The first time I came inside, I was surprised how beautifully decorated this place was. The dining area was lightly lit, there was a gong at the front, and fancy red napkins on every seat, this was definitely not an ordinary take-out thai food restaurant.
Since then, I've come here on 3 different occasions and every single time, I was thoroughly impressed by the flavor and presentation of their dishes. I have tried their Seven Sea's Treasure, Crying Tiger Salad, and Chaba Cha Cha amongst other desserts and appetizers. The Seven Seas Treasure comes with shrimp, perfectly cooked scallops and a very rich salmon filet on a bed of coconut rice which is just amazing. The crying tiger salad is a RIBEYE salad with a kick, I loved every tangy bite. And as for the Chaba Cha cha, it was lightly fried sole fish covered with this sweet/salty sauce and tender broccoli, celery, etc. And i LOVE celery so this was a great touch.
For dessert, they serve mango sticky rice which is just to die for. The waitress told me that the owner goes out and hand picks the mangoes and you could definitely tell, best mango I have ever had in my life. They also have a fried banana that they flambé in front of you, very entertaining.
All of the dishes are a little bit pricier but it is definitely worth it. All the ingredients are fresher and healthier, as can be seen by the lack of grease in their dishes. And they have a full bar and wine selection!
Finally, I urge everyone who gave this place negative reviews to try it again. The new owner actually spoke with me at my table and really seemed to care about every detail of the restaurant from the ingredients to the ambiance. Definitely swing by for a great dining experience!
Not really Thai food. Americanized and watered-down fare with a pick-up bar atmosphere. Take someone who is not critical about taste and more interested in flash over substance. I've been to at least three other restaurants with far better Thai food. There's a great spot on PCH called Thai Tiffany, and there are a number of interesting eateries in the valley. Do a little hunting. Chaba is a lazy imitation of Thai food.
I have eaten at Chaba more than a few times and everytime the food was great, I dont know why the other reviews on here were negative they must be from another planet LOL! Anyway I love their grilled salmon mango and barbeque thai chicken mmmmmm! oh the lamb shank is pretty good too. they have a really nice atmosphere kind of upscale thai I guess, and the bar is a nice place to have a drink with friends. The prices are pretty reasonable, I have no problem with that.
