Reel Inn is an ocean-side shack selling simplicity with a lot of value. The budget menu is on the chalkboards and a variety of fresh fish are on display under the glass counter where you place your order. Although the queue extends beyond the front door, the fresh food and the rustic ambiance make this wait worthwhile. Valet parking is available on weekends and do remember to call in for parties of 10 to 100. Enjoy your Fish Tacos or Grilled Shrimp either in the ocean-view dining room or on the herb-adorned patio. You are on vacation!
My favorite seafood resturant in California. They make the food just the ways you prefer. The atmosphere is low-key and local like. But, if anyone like shark. My advice, I guess, is to call them ahead of time -- hopefully, they can safe some for you. Because everytime I go there -- the shark is all gone for that day. I have to order my second option (grilled Mahi Mahi) -- which is still really delicious. My mom, also, like this place, too. I would recommend this place to anyone that like seafood and the beach atmosphere and local atmosphere.
This was the worst ever seafood experience at the Reel Inn Topanga and Malibu.
We bought Fish and Chips, and Lobster and Shrimp to go.
Fish was fried to the extreme, chips were soggy shrimps mediocre and what a day, the lobster tail was rancid. As we were on the go and on the wrong side of PCH returning was out of te question and the first available trash bin received our relatively expensive picnic.
Be aware particularly if you get something to go from here.
For over 20 years, I have been enjoying the wonderful fish selections from this restaurant. Unfortunately, the Malibu location is the ONLY store remaining open. Now living in Fullerton, I do not get the opportunity I once had to dine at the former Rolling Hills location. BUT, any opportunity I get to visit the westside, out to Malibu I am headed for lunch or dinner. If there is a line, it is well worth the wait.
I love this place. Lately I haven't been able to get enough. It's got that old beach feel, like perhaps when Gidget movies were around. And it's not every restaurant that you can find healthy food the whole family will love. My favorite way to get the fish these days is sauteed. They put garlic and tomatoes on top and it's absolutely delicious. The long park-type benches to dine at give it a friendly feeling. And there's a wood-burning stove in the middle of the restaurant for cold nights. It's just a great place to hang out, enjoy good fish, and good friends.
My absolute favorite place for fresh blackened cajun fish, it is mouth watering good. I would recommend this establishment to all of my friends, and strangers also. I have never had a bad experience. It is also good with my outrageously tight budget. Can't wait to patronize again. I acctually can't understand how anyone could think the food is expensive, either they need to learn how to order, or they should stay at home and try to cook a meal and spend the same money they may really see what a great deal this restaurant has to offer.
