This eatery has been winning rave reviews from critics and foodies ever since it opened in October of 1999. Several celebrities figure on the list of regulars, all of whom thoroughly enjoy the sushi and innovative fish dishes offered here. The wine list boasts of more than 90 spirits, in addition to champagnes. Nobu Malibu has an enclosed patio and a main dining room, and the simple decor is infinitely enhanced by rows of fresh tulips and roses.
Ridiculously expensive! (We spent $220. Total for 4 small dishes and 3 drinks, and we dine at fine establishments a lot). We arrived with reservations at 6:00 and were stuck in a crowded corner by the sushi bar. It was loud, and the service terrible. It took 1/2 hrs. for drinks to arrive. The food was good, but didn't outweigh the other factors. The service was terrible, much like a coffee shop. The new location is nice, but when you're stuck inside, it's loud and crowded. The valet was $8.00. Will never go back.
My husband and I had our first introduction to sushi by our son who is a frequent patron. It was an absolute glorious event from the moment we were greeted so nicely. Our sushi chef Ryo was so talented and informed us of what we were eating beforehand. We loved everything and can't wait to visit again.
A treat for sure! High prices, but the flavor of all the food was like an explosion in my mouth. My husband and I are total Foodies. We eat out a lot, and this restaurant kicks some serious butt!! Ribeye with black truffle sauce was unbelievable. Tempura Rock Shrimp, Tempura Crab, Peruvian Chicken Skewers, Sashimi Tuna with citrus soy sauce, Miso Cod and the spring roll desserts... WOW!! We drove all the way from Huntington Beach to experience Nobu, and we will absolutely be back. Family friendly atmosphere, casual, great customer service, wait staff and hostess were very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend and we will be back!! So yummy!!
Nobu Malibu is my favorite restaurant ever! It is definately the greatest restaurant in town, if not it is the best sushi restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious. I have been eating at Nobu for years and the food is always extraordinary. My absolute favorite is the Black Cod with Miso Sauce. I would also recommend the Taradito. Also, do not miss out on the Bento Box for dessert. I eat at Nobu once or twice a month. I am friends with the chef and managers, and I know most of the waiters/waitresses. The service is fantastic and everyone there is very kind. If you go to Nobu on a friday or saturday I guarantee you will see a celebrity there. Celebrities come to the restaurant very often and many of them are regulars there. Paparazzi usually camp outside the restaurant just waiting for them. Throughout the years I've eaten there, I've seen people from Britney Spears to Mary-Kate and Ashley to Wanda Sykes to Mariah Carey with Nick Cannon, and many more. The whole restaurant is comfortable and was put together with great taste. I would recommend asking for a table on the patio though because it is less crowded, more comfortable, and if you want to see celebrities, they always sit there to avoid other people and attention. Enjoy!
surprisingly casual and family orientated. accommodating to both groups and couples. walking in theres a sushi bar, the main dining area, and to the far left is a small bar and around the corner is the outdoor covered patio.
the outdoor covered patio is best for dates, more romantic.
great dishes to try: yellowtail sashimi with jalapeno, black cod miso, baby tuna sashimi and the sake in the bamboo. absolutely delicious, each dish comes out individually and is served family style. a fabulous haute culinary experience in regards to food. service meets the standards you would expect from such a higher end restaurant. just dont miss the turn, its the first plaza on the left from PCH on cross creek~enjoy!
If you're looking for great sushi, Nobu would have it. It's fresh.. and the place is famous. But, it's way expensive for what you get. The service is above average, but not excellent. I think if you're not a celebrity... then it's best to go elsewhere.
The food was excellent, and the service was wonderful. The restaurant was a little noisy and we were there at 10 p.m. on a Saturday. It is pricey, but considering the quality of food and the overall experience, it is definitely worth it. A restaurant for celebrating...
I am not sure how this restaurant is keeping it's reputation. Yes, the food was good but given the prices, it was way out of line. The atmosphere is awful (plastic covers on the table), the service particularly rude, and the prices ... $200 for a dinner for two and we only ordered 1 beer each.
