Just down the street from Sony Studios , Cafe Laurent will make you feel as though you have stumbled into the south of France or perhaps the back lot set for Bonjour Tristesse. With a warm Provencal interior and a sun-drenched patio, Laurent is a great place to enjoy a casual lunch or brunch a la francaise . The brunch menu features gourmet omelets, Gaufres (light waffles) and Pain Perdu (french toast); the lunch menu offers such classics as Salade Nicoise , Quiche Lorraine , and Croque Monsieur .
I just want to say CAFE LAURENT you guys are THE BEST...I went for dinner last night and had the best Steak au poivre ever...they make this fantastic filet mignon with pepper corn, cognac and cream to die for...not to mention the gratin they have with rosemarry...i love it...i didn't know they don't serve wine but they were so friendly and advise me to go get a bottle next door...anyhow...after the steak which it was enough for me...i had a big surprise by one of the owners...Rayn...he gave me the best Nuttella crepe ever...it had strawberries, bananas and of course NUTTELLA...i can't wait and try also their own creation...dulce de leche, bananas and condensced milk...that sounds awesome...prices are great for their food...i dont think any restaurant in the area can compare to their food and price...and as far as i know...their dinner items are farmers products...that's how i found out about cafe laurent...by buying a croissant on sunday's farmers market...they are being selling me croissants for years and i didn't know they have this gem restaurant. Anyhow, EXCELLENT FRENCH CUISINE...a last a good real relax restaurant on my neiborhood!!!
Didn't have a feel of a French restaurant at all....
My boyfriend and I dined at this restaurant over the weekend, to a big disappointment. We were greeted by a woman, who seemed very annoyed (reminding me of the Soup Nazi, from Seinfeld--but he was friendlier) simply by us walking into the place. We decided to let it go, since we were told that this place is a good restaurant. NOT! The woman finally came to take our order and while doing so, she walked away 3 times. We ordered something simple: eggs and coffee. What came with our breakfast was suppose to be potato gratin. But what we got was more like, potato oatmeal....couldn't eat it...What's more? What French restaurant, plays ranchero/Latino music in the background? This one....go figure...badly run restaurant. Or, maybe management needs to be changed....
This is such a great place to dine. The atmosphere is so comfortable and the patio made me feel like I was on vacation. The menu was lovely... and our meals even better. It was quick and yummy. I would definitely love to go back.
We were there on a weekend for lunch. We were placed at a smallish table right next to the loud music. An empty table at the back was available. However, we were rudely refused that table because it can be seated by a slightly larger group. Of course that table was open through out our stay.
So if you want the service, Cafe Laurent may not be the right choice for you.
