You want authentic Mariachi? This is the place. You want delicious Mexican food? Find somewhere else. The food is a higher price than you would pay elsewhere, but you are getting a Mariachi show without a bad seat in the house. The service is average, I would expect more from a place that is trying to be top shelf. The Mariachi band is excellent - about an hour and a half of musica. As far as the food... you could do better in many places elsewhere in LA. Come enjoy the music, but do not expect top notch food or service.

I just got back from LA FONDA.I always remember it as a good time.I was wrong, it is an AWESOME time.My family is of mexican heritage and for years have been making Mole, the Mole at La Fonda is excellent.It has been a year since my last visit and La Fonda and Los Camperos have gotten better since then. The value is excellent when you factor in the food, attmosphere, and the show. Not only do you get to hear Los Camperos sing, but you get to see the dancers out there on stage while Los Camperos sing.

The mariachi band is superb. They are natural born entertainers with folkloric dancers. However, the restaurant would definitely go out of business without it. The food selection is extremely expensive and not very much to choose from. The waiter stops by your table only a couple of times and then hits you with an extremely large bill (large percentage of mandatory tip) near the end of the show. I love the fact that the tables, no matter where you sit you have a good view of the stage. Also that thier beer is not water down. the mariachi was excellent, funny, and amazingly very entertaining!! things I dislike were the small menu not that many choices, outrageously overpriced food!!!

THIS IS MY SECOND WEEK IN A ROW THAT I ATTEND LA FONDA TO SEE THE MARIACHI MONUMENTAL DE AMERICA.. OUR FIRST EXPERIENCE WAS TO SEE THE MARIACHI DIVAS WHICH WERE PHENOMENAL, BUT WE HAD A BLAST!

I've been to La Fonda a couple of times. The price you pay for the food is totally worth it. Since you not only have good food but an excellent enterntaintment by the mariachis and great service. A taste of hispanidad!

Professor Alviso gave our class extra credit if we attended the historical La Fonda restaurant to see the famous Los Camperos. I went with Emilio who translated some of the songs for me. Los Camperos were funny and made sure the audience had a good time. The bathrooms upstairs were a climb, but watching the mariacho made it all worth while. The ambiance is warm lighting, but romantic. Sunday night was a good night to go and we got in without reservations (luck?!)We recommend it and will be going back again and again. ~Teresita

La Fonda has been the best for years and years. Great margaritas!

The food is on the verge of poor. American styled food, big plates with food spilling onto each other and very over priced! The service is poor, servers not helpful and pressure you to hurry up order, eat and leave for the next group. However, the shining light that makes this all worth it is the incomparable Mariachi Los Camperos. These men are S H O W M A N and bring pride & honor to all of mexican heritage! The ambience is rather dimly lit, could be romantic and the bathrooms are upstairs, which could be dangerous depending on how much tegquila you have had for the evening. The best seat is at the bar, no pressure to order food. As long as your buying drinks you can sit there all night! This is very much a Tourist site that come by the bus loads. Due to the high volume of tourists the restaurant doesn't need to make improvements because, afterall, they keep coming anyway! RESERVATIONS A MUST, Parking is Terrible--arrive early for parking.
