I guess if you live on the westside and are a ladder climber in the entertainment business its a good place to meet people similar to you. It just has this really reeking feel of like older guys who work at one of the ent co's on colorado and mid twenties people who havent worked the nerve up to hang out in silverlake or east hollywood-- not that its an accomplishment.
If youre a real humanoid stay away from this place.
I go here almost every Saturday. The bouncers are cool and the DJs on Saturdays are pretty cool. I have had no problems with weak drinks. Plenty of places to sit down, smallish but accommodating outdoor area and friendly waitresses. No cover, easy parking, rarely a line to get in. I have made it my regular spot and the bouncers and DJs welcome me and my girls every Saturday! If you are looking for something local but not too divey, check it out.
The Arsenal Bar on Pico/Bundy in West LA is a great place to hangout or just go for a couple of drinks. It has something for everyone and is well-known to locals for its great drinks and yummy food. The Arsenal is a great place to get a salad, some sweet potato fries, or a good stiff vodak tonic. Go there a few times and the friendly staff will know you. Definetely try the sweet potato fries, they aren't greasy and they're always good. The patio is a great place to chill when the weather is nice and the music always packs a punch. Get there early and grab a booth and people watch, maybe you'll see me!
The food was good, the drinks are OK, but the service stinks. Our waitress not only got in one of my friends face, but decided she would call him a liar to his face in front of all of us there. Then she added a few drinks we didn't order to top it off. This place is cool just watch out for shameless add ons to the bill.
arsenal looks like a dive, but it's actually a bit of scene. lots of twenty-thirty somethings on any given weekend. they serve bar food here too. it's pretty so-so. they have a fun cocktail menu and the prices aren't outrageous. it gets pretty loud in here, so don't come if you're in a low-key mood.
It sounds like the last reviewer had a great experience there for dinner, but if you come later for a night out at the bars after 11, its a TOTALLY different story.
Last time, my friends and i came to this bar on a thursday night, it was not only wall to wall packed with a weird mix of 40-50 year old co-workers hanging out, but also, there were only TWO bartenders serving the entire bar full of patrons. (YAH, they have two rooms, but ONE small bar, and there's barely any space to dance or just chill).
They had a DJ that night, who didn't kno the difference between a turntable and his records, as they might've well been playing cd's or just the radio, and it probably would've been better.
This place may TRY to be a cool nightspot for people on the westside, but its no more than a neighborhood restaurant that tries to metamorphasize itself into a wanna-be club at night.
To be fair though, everyone there from the bouncers to the bartenders were friendly. It was just DEFINITELY understaffed (i saw some people having to wait up to 15 minutes before getting the bartenders' attention to order a drink).
