While visiting the city for a funeral, I asked about soul food places that was near my hotel. I was advised to try M& M Soul Food. The staff was freindly, and made suggestions from the menu. I chose the short ribs, greens and beans. I didn't have to season anything and the meat was tender. Great job. Visited on 3/18/2011 about 3:pm
As an old, very white guy, I thoroughly enjoyed my entire dining experience last night (7/28/09) at M&M. I was welcomed with smiles, made to feel comfortable, given outstanding service, and experienced near ecstasy when I tasted the Ox Tails. I love Ox Tails, cook them at home myself, and say without embarrassment or reservation that these were the best Ox Tails I have every put in my mouth. Being the meat eater that I am, I also got a side order of the Fried Chicken and that too was superb as was the corn bread and cabbage. I strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves southern cooking or soul food. Take your wife and kids and introduce them to cooking that satisfies your hunger and soothes your soul.
We went to the M&M Soul Food on Centinela in LA. The place was small but the food was AWESOME! The seasoning was incredible. Those great cornbread muffins that they give you before you get the food is a good indication that the food will be wonderful! I had the liver and onions, mac & cheese, greens and yams with sweet tea! My mom had the turkey wings, mac & cheese, greens, potatoe salad and lemonade. We each tasted each others meats and the veggies.....they were wonderful. They feed you like you won't eat again! The food was well worth the price. Can't wait to go again!
The ox tails are really good and the turkey was mouth watering. The greens were okay. The peach cobbler was better at the M&Ms in Watts however. Pretty much reminds you of a southern atmosphere with a very simple dining area.
I been to a lot of soul food restuarants and this happens to be the best one for me. Their food is amazing. Not only that, they serve in big portions. I am a man who loves to chew down and I couldn't even hang with their plates. I had a lot of left overs that lasted for two days. The only problem I had was the parking situation. Their parking lot is shared with other stores which becomes pretty crowded. But I am willing to over look that problem once I start eating.
