I was shocked to see El Arco Iris listed as the best Mexican restaurant in LA! Who makes these lists? I used to eat at El Arco Iris 36 years ago when I lived about a block away from it. I was surprised to see that it still even existed! That says the owners must be doing something right. I ate there then only because it was so close. There is far better Mexican food in LA, however. Even on Olvera Street downtown, La Luz del Dia is much better. Their carnitas are superb, and the tortillas fresh and handmade. In SF, La Tacqueria has superb burritos and tacos...on Mission near 25th...unfortunately the neighborhood there has gotten more treacherous over the years, to the point that it disuades me from going. Congrats to El Arco Iris for surviving all these years!
My family and I have been dining at El Arco Iris since FOREVER! It has gone through some major remodeling and it looks very nice. One thing though that hasn't changed is the great tasting food. The reason I love it so much is because it reminds me of good old homemade food! I highly recommend having dinner here.
...Yes , this is the best place to eat on the planet in my book for my last meal if I had a choice I would say take me to El Arco Iris. I have been eating here since before I was born and Icould never get enough. I always order the same thing to 2 tacos dorados w/rice and beans and on Saturdays Menudo. Huevos rancheros here is bomb, as well as the chorizo burritos, and oh yeah Jesses extra special burrito is to die for. So go eat here trust me it is the best !!!!!! Oh, and hi to the Family at Arco Iris and thankyou for always being there and tasting GREAT!!
