One word: overrated. Been living in Eagle Rock for more than 20 years and I've never eaten at Casa Bianca. Decided to try it for the first time a few days ago. Place was packed. Felt out of place hanging out with these trendy hipsters transplanted from Silver Lake. They all the look the same.
Anyway, ordered a pepperoni with mushrooms. Was way too greasy. And the mushrooms tasted like they were from a can. What a disappointment.
I'd recommend, if you like waiting in line for up to an hour for average pizza.
if you're looking for no frills mom&pop style italian food this is one of two places in n.e. hollywood/l.a. that are family run for multiple generations, and get it right, oh and by the way the best thin crust small edge-crust pizza this side of chicago. no reservations no credit cards, no delivery, but(thank-god)take-out. also available in whole-wheat crust, try the fried eggplant with your favorite toppings, they use top-grade sausage, and have freshly grated parm/chs. they serve late, but if you want to avoid a wait that can last over an hour, come b4 6:30 or after 9. if ur not in the mood for pizza, order one of the complete dinners, not avaiable for take-out, you even get choice of ice cream!
I like the pizza, but every time we come here it's an hour or more wait and the service is TERRIBLE! It's not worth it anymore, and they don't take any credit cards, not even debit cards, so unless you always carry a bunch of cash around you have to go to the bank to get $. Kind of a pain. Oh, and the place is filthy, the carpet, wall paper, chairs and tables are probably the same from when they opened over 50 years ago. It's just grimy and needs to be throughly cleaned.
I have to agree with the negative reviews about this place. We reside in Eagle Rock and frequently see the lines outside the restaurant but don't understand why??? The pizza is average at best, and some of the meals are below par. You all can continue to eat there, but for me, I'd rather go to acouple of other places in Pasadena for Italian that never disappoint!...Oh by the way, they don't accept credit cards!!!
Well my Husband and I went there about 2 weeks ago because friends and family were raving about it, so we just had to try it for ourselves. But the food didn't live up to the hype, it actually made us sick, and the pizza was not good at all. And it shock us because we love Pizza & italian food. A real dissapointment!!!!
When I 1st started looking for the best Pizza around, this was the place everybody raved about. I finally went. I was horribly disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it's not awful Pizza, it's just bland, plain ol' pizza. I found nothing special about this at all. I will admit, quite a few of the people eating there, seemed to be very friendly with the people who work there and I can't rate all Italian food, just Pizza. Maybe all the other stuff is great. The patrons looked happy, but their pizza just tasted like what a movie theaters pizza should taste like. I don't get the raving. Must be lemmings.
friends, not just a local favorite. although i happen to be a local, this place is a destination for all family, friends, and especially out of town guests. of course everyone loves their own favorites, but i know all about food. spaghetti al bianco to die for. order w little sauce n sausage on side.
