This place is a big mistake if it's the first pizza you eat. It ruins you for pizza the rest of your life; you will never enjoy pizza at any other establishment again.
"Oh, but it's a big world," you say,.... but I've been to other places, Italy, New York, Paris, the Croation Coast, on and on, and no one touches this place!
Imagine the giddiness inside me as I'm boarding a plane to N.Y. City, the anticipation of the Greenwich Village pizzarias that we've all heard so much about. I figured... if Casa Bianca's is that good, then N.Y. must be better since the owners of Bianca ship their ingredients from New York. I tried this Ray's and the other Famous Ray's, then a quaint authentic Italian joint, to no satisfaction. Was I expecting too much? Possibly, I suspect so. I didn't even finish my pizza slices at either Ray's.
At 44 years of age, I've just stopped looking for a better pizza. After-all there are other discoveries to make at this place , it's rumored that the rest of their food is also great. I know the antipasta salad is another "Best I've ever had," yet another yardstick that no other establishment has ever measured up to. If I ever get the strength to walk into this place and order anything but the salad and pizza, I might find out for myself.
A few notes about the joint: they are closed Sunday & Monday, open at 11:am, expect a line going out the door after 4:pm every other day, expect a 1-2 hour wait after 5 especially on a Friday or Saturday, (...if you do plan to wait out the line-bring some snack food or someone to run and get snack food for you, otherwise you may pass-out from the heavenly odor hitting you every time the door swings open.),first come-first served, the locals swamp this place as well as newbies.
Enjoy!
