Tam O'Shanter, Los Angeles

I was introduced this this restaurant, last year around the holidays and let me tell you what a treat...Tam O'Shanter has it terrific Scottish atmosphere, costumed waitresses, carolers and the food is delicious! I bring my friends and family here through out the year. Just remember to make reservations

Server: Wyatt L (#195) What a horrible experience we had today at Tam O’Shanter. When I made the reservation yesterday I asked if I could use my coupons. The woman who took the reservation said “Sure!”. When we arrived the restaurant, I showed our server, Wyatt, the coupons and he said that you didn’t accept them today. I told him that I was told when I made the reservations that I could use them. He said “Well, if they said you could...” So my husband and I ordered dinner. When we were done, we put our coupon on the tab and Wyatt said “You can’t use these today”. He had said earlier we could. We would not have ordered had he said that in the first place. I told the manager what happened, and he said , “Well, someone made a mistake”. End of story. The coupon does not specify the “black out dates” for the coupon. the coupon states “Not valid on holidays, for special events or with any other offer or discount”. Mother’s day is NOT a legal holiday. That is why I asked when I originally made the reservation. Tam O'Shanter ruined my mother's day.

I have been there several times since I moved back to Glendale from Phoenix and it was not that tasty as I remember from the old days. It still has charm however. I'll give it one more shot before I give up on it.

Now, it's not that bad. Yes, it is rather pricey, and the food can be so-so, but the atmosphere is great if you like a pub. Probably closest *feel* to a real pub of any I have been to in LA since the John Bull closed down years ago in Pasadena.

The steak I ordered came a peculiar greyish-white color and was flavorless and mushy. Terrible! Stick to the prime rib and sandwiches.

You've got to be kidding me ... We will never go back after our last experience. Overpriced and intrusive service. Questionable food quality. I was with a party of 8. 2 of us order steaks, 2 prime rib. The kitchen doesn't seem to know the difference between medium well and medium rare. Sent our meals back and it took 15 minutes to put our warmed over food back on the table. Miserable experience. One star is generous.

This place is amazing.: Last year we had a large group of sober individuals on Saint Patricks day arrive at 11AM. The band was great, the food was great and the beer was fantastic. 2PM rolled around like lighting and things were foggy from there

we ordered the prime rib - the smaller one for my lady and the big one for me. We thought they forgot to bring steak knives, but as it turned out, the meat was so tender we didn't need them. Found out later, no steak knives is kind of there trademank. Can't say enough good about this place. You'd really have to work at it to ever have a bad experience here. Plus, you can join thier club and about every 6th or 7th meal is free.

good food nice atmospher but $$$$$

As a Lawry's VIP member, we frequent TOS all the time but not for the dinner but for the sandwich bar. The prime rib sandwich is phenomenal and the sides just as good with the cole slaw and red potato salad. If you get there early enough, you may even get the home made potato chips which are awesome.
