Literati Bar & Grill
Trendy, elegant and yet comfortably cozy, Literati II is fast becoming a force to reckon with. This chic eatery has diners streaming in for both its ambiance and its mix of Californian and Mediterranean cuisine. Chef Chris Kidder cooks up a cornucopia of dishessoups, burgers, bruschettas, steak frites and much more. Don't leave without trying the sublime churros dipped in chocolate pudding. Literati II opens at 5.30 pm on weekdays and at 6 pm on Fridays and Saturdays for dinner. Check website for other details.
Great place to eat and hang out and read/write and meet with friends. The staff are exceptionally nice. My only negatives are a few too many tables which (I know) violate fire code laws, and the air conditioning is always cranked on high which eliminates sitting at several tables near the walls where you will be under a constant freezing windstorm. This later issue is a major one as I see many comment on it and switch tables because of it, and I always need to remember to bring a jacket to avoid freezing my rearquarters off there. Turn down the AC and the place would be close to perfect! Please!
mixed review here.
cinnamon french toast was not acceptable. the delicious, dense artisan bread was not allowed to absorb egg and was very dry. no cinnamon tasted.
shrimp omeltte, with salad, was excellent, as was the breakfast burrito.
coffee was very gd, but not bot enough.
I've only had breakfast entrees and desserts there but they're really good. The hashbrowns are the best (served with cheese, sour cream, and salsa on top), and the desserts are all so good (I've tried most of them already). It's an order & pay first type of place, then sit down with your number and your food is brought out... but it's a nice restaurant, very clean and new. They have various sandwiches and soups that I've heard (from friends) are pretty good also.
Sit in front of the fireplace and have a slice of carrot cake while you surf the Internet. This restaurant lives up to its name, as I counted not less than 6 people with laptops working or surfing while they enjoyed their meals. I had the turkey meatloaf sandwich, which was not the best I've had, but enjoyable. The carrot cake is to die for - one of the best I've ever had. Sodas are canned, not fountain, so you don't get that over-syruped (or wateredd-down) taste. The service was a little slow, but what they lacked in speed they made up for in quality.
The food is fabulous from herb-crusted salmon to sandwhiches, the coffee is great, and the ambiance is adorable. The actual restaurant is white table cloth very fancy and romantic (floating candles/flowers on the tables) with outdoor seating.
Literati II is the cafe part where there is wireless internet and a huge menu wtih anything you could want. Cute tables, many business meetings are here and students studying. The food is great; I love the salmon, chicken melt, and spaghetti rustica. And the garden salad with vinaigrette. Portions are generous and everything comes with sides.
Dessert is amazing also!!!
