Sushi Masu's has been just 'round the corner for years but been hesitant to try it since I've already established my all time faves. But this place topped my chart! The sushi is the freshest and tastiest I've ever tasted, and the appetizers are super delightful and creative. Everything we ordered was sooo yummy, from the regular Spicy Tuna rolls to the Stuffed shitake with ground shrimp and scallops! There is something about going to a Japanese sushi restaurant in Los Angeles and being served by sushi chefs who are actually Japanese. Just give it a try!
Appetizers are awesome, fish is fresh, service is great, Chef Masu is the best sushi chef we've ever had! Unlike the other traditional Japanese chefs, Masu has a great sense of humor, as well as his knife skills on our desert fruit bowls!
Masu is all you ever need in a sushi place - fashionable enough for the most important date, but friendly and comfortable enough to drop in anytime for a leisurely lunch. Most important of all, the fish is consistently fresh and high quality.
This is definitely a sushi bar, but Masu's also created some wonderful entrees in a non-sushi vein. We like to mix in some kitchen dishes with our sushi. The portobello mushroom steak, stuffed with seafood and - other yummy things - is a favorite, and nothing else we've tried here has been anything less than the finest gourmet. Check the board for the day's recommendations, or sit at the bar and ask the owner Have a sake and enjoy.
After your meal, Chef Masu or one of his talented colleagues will create a beautiful sculpture of fruit for your dessert. I really never want to go anywhere else (sushi-wise).
