Description

All sushi lovers know that Los Angeles is the best metropolis in America as far as the sushi talk goes. And chef Nobi Kusuhara's decade old practice as owner of Sasabune is as flourishing as ever. A popular lunch spot among teens and the working crowd, you will find most locals waiting for sumptuous sushi and sashimi in the spacious room. Notice the pattern in which the fish is cut and the almost perfect absence of oil in your Hamachi, which is just one of the magnanimous treats of the master chef. Why not go all the way to savor the Midas touch? Call ahead for hours.

Horrible food. Over priced. You can get the best sushi somewhere else like Yen for less than half the price.

If you expect something better quality sushi, I never recommend this place. You'll be dissapointed. Some of raw fish of sashimi really stinks and obviously over priced. In addtion, their recommending Omakase menu differs American from Japanese as other Japanese sushi place does. Off course the menu for Japanese is better than American but so expensive according to my Japanese friends. I highly recommend Suhi Gen in Little Tokyo.

Sushi Sasabune!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/17/08
This is the sushi place to go in West LA! It looks like just another house from the outside, but you'll see the neon "open" sign. It's a good sized restaurant. You can either order from the menu or whatever the chef is serving that night. I don't know where they get their fish from, but it is amazingly fresh and just melts in your mouth. You don't even need your shoyu and wasabi sauce, because they come with their own special sauce...yummy! It's very expensive, about $40+ per person, but worth it!

See the Sushi Nazi
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/22/08
I adore going to Sushi Sasabune and sitting at the bar with the sushi nazis. I do not consider myself to be a very adventurous eater, but I completely trust everything the nazi gives me and I have never been disappointed. This is a real sushi bar. A sign near the kitchen reads (in Japanese): No California Rolls or Cucumber Rolls. I love that. The sushi, especially the nazi is a bit expensive, but for the amount of fish, and the great quality (incredibly fresh) it is totally worth it! I have been going here for years and have never been disappointed. Get there early, though, because it fills up fast and there are often large parties taking up a lot of room.

If you live near LAX, the best sushi is Yokohama's in Culver City in the shopping center at Washington Blvd. and Overland. It's the only place I request to go. Huge rolls and great sushi for the money. Check it out. Shawna, Westchester, CA

To me, the best Sushi is California Asian Bistro in the City of Fullerton (in the Costco Shopping Center) on 1000 S. Harbor Blvd. But the best part of it is also an excellent Chinese restaurant which serves scrumptious HK style Chinese dishes. Authentic, great presentations and most of all, not loaded with grease like most Chinese food other places serves. The menu is diverse. Great ambience and service. Very, very reasonable prices. This is also a great place to watch the games, nice bar and drinks, flat screens everywhere. Did I mention the dim sum menu that C.A.B. serves. No other places in the area. You got to try the Har Goh and Shiu Mai! Check out this great restaurant.
