Hop LI Seafood Restaurant, Los Angeles

I read the other reviews and am startled by the bad service reviews. JR Seafood is our Chinese restaurant of choice. I have eaten here so many times and have never had bad service. The food is always brought quickly and the waiters are very understanding when I ask for another set of chopsticks if my daughter drops hers. They would even make child friendly chopsticks for her when she was really little. The fish tanks are a great distraction for kids. We always bring our out-of-town guests here. I was introduced to JR by some Chinese friends who say this is the best Chinese on the Westside. I was wary since I don't eat fish, but there is plenty of non fish items on the menu. Yes there are some Americanized dishes but there are also some very traditional dishes as well. Try the snow pea leaves.

Not Chinese. American. The food is bland and sweet, even the kung pau shrimp. The hot broiled scallops were slightly better, but the overall flavor was of bottled Tuong ot Sriracha hot sauce. If you like American Chinese food, this is your place.

This place falls into the lowest of low category. After receiving poor service from both the host and waiter. I was practically rushed out of the place by an unfriendly attitude and feeling of discomfort. I would never recommend or patronizes that place again. The entire staff should be sent to

go for lunch for the $5 specials!

I'm torn writing this review. On a few negative notes: the staff at JRs Seafood are very rude and sarcastic. The female hostess and owner are very abrupt and rude. The floors close to the kitchen and in the bathroom are so sticky and dirty, it feels like glue (and my shoes almost stuck to the floor). On a positive note: the food is fairly good for the money you pay.

Do you like menus being thrown at you? I went here for dinner on Monday, Memorial Day 2005. We were seated and after about a minute or so the waiter emerged. We greeted him with a Hello. He does not return the greeting and throws the menus onto the table and walks away. And so did we. We immediately got up and left.

Consistently great authentic Chinese food at a very reasonable price. The way it should be.

The hot braised shrinp and chicken corn soup are to die for!!! The price is just right and you get a huge amount of food.
