Prizzi's Piazza

Description

Just next to the tiny but popular Tamarind Theater sits this casual hangout. It's a great place to munch on excellent pizza before or after a show. The menu at Prizzi's Piazza also offers pastas, including light gnocchi and a plate of angel hair dripping with olive oil and fresh garlic. Regulars who live in the hills above Franklin keep the place busy, as do the tourists who've ventured off the beaten path. The wait staff is fast and friendly. Check website for details.

My wife and I have traveled all over the world: Paris, London, Venice, Thailand, Mexico, New York, Chicago, Boston...and never have I come across (no, not EVEN in Chicago) such a delicious and memorable PIZZA like the regular large cheese pizza at Prizzi's. It's outstanding and melt-in-your-mouth good. The friendly and attentive staff always shout out a warm greeting from the cozy, front entrance bar you as first walk through the wood framed-door of the small, romantically lit dinner spot on Franklin. Whether you be a neighborhood regular or just wandering in for the first time from next door attractions Birds or Upright Citizen's Brigade Theater, there is a warm feeling of familiarity and home. The cocktails are out of this world, duly shaken up by Paulie the Jersey Bartender, or Daryl or Jandi, or any one of the super servers he has trained, and of special note is the tropically mouthwatering martini called The Space Cowboy. My favorite. Still hoping to see it named after me one day. If you're the type that likes appetizers before your traditional Italian main course of the best chicken marsala anyway or lasagna or any of the scrumptious pastas, the mozzarella friti are just like mama used to make, (but better, don't tell her I said it) and the simple prizzi's staple dinner salad, the Verde Mista, is to die for, complete with fresh large shaved parmesean slices atop fresh greens. Don't even get me talking about desserts. (Try the brownie.) And now they have midnight happy hour on weekends nights from 12:30ish...slices and drinks at the bar...are you kidding? It's awesome. The only problem is I'm not getting on my scale anymore. Too afraid. Prizzi's, the best Italian food and service in LA. I'm a space cowboy, bet you weren't ready for that. Thanks and we love you! Hollywood Bono

I wouldn't move until I was sure Prizzi's would still deliver pizza to my new apartment! I'm from Chicago and this is the best pizza in L.A.-- yummy! The chicken parmesan rocks too.

I've got to say this is one of the worst pizza restaurants I have found in LA. And boy is it over priced. BEWARE. Service is very average but the food is where this place really needs help. The salmon was overcooked and smothered in a heavy truly awful sauce. Above all the pizza is really not very good - crust tastes like a supermarket frozen special except it costs $26!!

Food is good. Haven't had any bad tasting food but their service is slow. If you eat here don't be in any hurry.

My FAVORITE Restaurant hands down!
By Much, 1/27/07
EVERYTHING about this restaurant is Outstanding! From the garlic breadsticks to the pasta dishes and pizza-not to forget the great wine list! I've just about introduced this restaurant to every person I know. I would highly recommend it. Ask for Rob-he's my favorite waiter and he will remember you and have your glass of Cab waiting for you when you return! :)

Don't sit at the bar
By ThomasR, 2/23/06
the bartender was too caught up in her latest script to respond to my hand waving for a glass of water or some salt for my potato. The food was good.

Consistently excellent.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/24/05
We eat out a lot and what has kept us coming back to Prizzi's is the consistency of the quality of the food and service. The Bolognese is terrific, as is the Market Salad and the house wine by the glass.
