The BEST pho in LA, in my humble opinion. The prices are great for the portions provided. Yummy broth, like homemade and nothing short of a potion. It's a rare gem, a 'hole in the wall' place that serves delicious food without pretentious decor. If you can't eat beef, their chicken based broth noodles are also excellent. The Mi & Hu Tieu are good, so are the rice plates and vermicelli. The bun bo Hue isn't that great though.
Overall, an awesome place to get Vietnamese food.
I've been going to this place ever since it opened in 1991. It has always been amazing. The only bad thing is that they are always busy now a days and you may have to wait for a table but well worth the wait.
We were driving around trying to find Pho in Chinatown, and happened upon Pho 87. There was a large crowd for noon on Sunday and we had a sneaking suspicion that we'd lucked upon a good spot. The food was quickly delivered and the first sip of the broth elicited two sighs of delight! This is perhaps the best pho I've tasted in all of Los Angeles. The rice noodles are perfect, not clumpy and sticky. The broth is so flavorful it needs no chili or hoison sauce. You'll want to eat every drop, but the servings are so generous you may not be able to do so. The variety of food is similar to most pho places, and I intend to try the egg noodle soup soon. I assure you that you will be happy you made the trip to Chinatown for a remarkable bowl of heaven. Don't expect a luxurious restaurant. After all, this is pho!! But, the food is great and the utensils are clean. I work in downtown Los Angeles, so I'm planning regular visits.
Went there for the second time. The food was good, but I am unhappy at the fact that they stole 20 bucks from me. I gave it to the busboy and the cashier short changed me and claimed i gave him less, we argued, and he even lied to me when he open the registered and pulled out some random twenties and said that I had only given him three...watch your money
