LUXURY ROCKSTAR HOTEL - AMAZING DECOR
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/13/09
The Standard is a true ROCKSTAR hotel... real rockers and party people of all kinds gather at the standard after large events parties and premiers. large private parties happen on the rooftop in thier amazing rooftop bar/loung/club with unique unforgetable futuristic design and modern colorful lighting that gives it a unique flare, with lounge areas, a dance floor, waterbed pods, a color changing lit pool and a killer surounding looking up into the giant buildings of downtown LA. the rooftop also host weekly weekend pool parties. that rock. Food is Killer... the drinks are poored strong. The Rooms - the smaller room... still huge. feater unique bathroom settings modern - strange - futuristic decor with some brite retro colors and themes. some rooms have huge bathtubs with one glass side as well as a seperate huge open tiled shower room for umm... shower parties? ^_^ ... nice vanity and good light. windows provide nice views of surounding city, the beds are very comfortable, cleann, and the bedding is nice (goose do.comf.) great pillows... even in the smaller rooms theres plenty of room for guests. LARGER ROOMS ***** AMAZING - tons of space for people giant sofa huge bed giant tub giant shower, all rooms have great plasma screen tvs and cabel and movie channels. central ac/heat etc id recomend this hotel highly. ive had more good times here than anywhere else. anywhere. The Staff - Is awesome if your not a douchebag to them. they are all very cool down to earth party people. the room service guy wont get uptight about anything... and i do mean anything thats going on in the room and might even occasionally parttake ;) they are quick on the draw and bring things like towel pillows etc fast. food in under an hour. great drink brought to your room... great minibars. wonderful comedic elements everyone for your constant entertainment. OVERALL the rooms - are CLEAN, Well Decorated and Equiped. + There is a Great Resturant, lounge/club in the lobby, lounge social area fire pit ouside in front. + Underground Parking- 15 - 20 per night. worth it. Best Party Hotel in LA SCREW ALLTHE BAD REVIEWS THOSE ARE ALL SNOBBY BUSINESS PEOPLE WHO WERE NOT LOOKING FOR ANYTHING BUT LUXURY AND QUITE. THE STANDARD IS LUXURY ROCKSTAR STYLE. NOT FOR MOUSEY BUSINESS PEOPLE. GOT IT? GOOD. =)

What a bore!
By Annie, 7/21/09
This place needs an implosion. The service, what little there is of it, absolutely is the value of a 2 star MOTEL! The female staff wore theatrical makeup - so thick it would take a puddy knife to peel it off. The male staff wore socks in their pants and strutted like peacocks! What an entire joke this place was. What a bore... seen rotten stuck up attitudes, this is nothing new and further more, they bore me. The room was not up to "standards", poor layout, old style furniture, beyond retro, more like purchased at garage sales! Ewwwww. Go to the Bonaventure, or Hilton, at least they appreciate the money you bring in.

This was a perfect spot for a first date. The Restaurant at The Standard was a ménage a trios of sexy, chic and yellow. Wines by the glass in categories like soft, luscious and juicy set the tone for quite a nice evening. We both ordered from the Dine La menu. A three course dinner for the price of an entrée at similar venues. I chose the NY dry aged steak for my second course . It was perfectly cooked and you could cut it with a butter knife. The caramel poire ( pear) dessert was amazing! The service staff was friendly and knowledgeable of their product . We booked a room shortly after dinner ;) !!

HORRIBLE – DON’T WASTER YOUR MONEY!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/2/08
This place sucks! Yes, good view, but too bad the people working there are starving actors with attitude problems! If you don’t believe me see for yourself, it’s so consistent it will prove itself that way. Sorry mr. real world mtv, you have a stupid job as a bartender “FOR YEARS!”may I add…you sucked on the show, and you still suck! Sorry about the personal note, but that truly goes out to ALL bartenders at Standard Downtown. Personally, I it gives me satisfaction that things didn’t work out for you guys, lame excuse for civilized human beings! Learn something, good service, better tips you idiots! Especially when you charge an arm and leg for a damn drink! You guys should be kissing out butts! Anyways, that goes for ALL the bartenders at Standard Hotel downtown…each one of them are depressing and failed in their careers, which makes me so happy after the BS service they provide and the rudeness, haha! Yes, I’m talking about the new asian girl specifically, (9-1-08)…YOU SUCK AS A BARTENDER!!! Please quit. I bet it didn’t cross your minds that I would write reviews all over the internet about you guys huh? Times have changed and internet communication DOES matter. Learn some manners for god sakes! Let’s talk about the lame excuse they have for security, please guys, it’s a simple job and an entry level position that requires minimum skills. I would seriously hire dogs instead than the staff at Standard, since dogs follow instructions better. First learn the policies and procedures before you think you are an important part of the organization. Anyways, always remember, WE are the people that that make it possible for you having a job due to our disposable income! If you piss us off, guess what, we don’t come back! Haha, which leads to no phone call Friday night for you to work. Chill, we make more an hour than you do a day (that’s why we can afford to pay $15 a drink). Think about it guys, we pay more for a drink than you make by the hour, appreciate us. The guy had no idea how the American justice system works…anyone up for an easy lawsuit…did someone say discrimination? Not a joke in Califronia. The Standard Downtwon has been ripping people off for long enough. They charge $15 for a water drown drink…and they have the nerve to give you attitude while they serve you! Can’t leave this part out…I asked to speak to the manager and no surprise, what a lame excuse for a manager, not even close folks…recommendation to the so-called manager, PLEASE QUIT IMMEDIATELY! Very defensive from the moment I started complaining about his staff. No management skills whatsoever, probably a family hook-up job. He should be fired or PLEASE look for something that works better for you and ESPECIALLY society! This is coming from an MBA and I’m sick and tired of the quality of the service in this country going down. I’m reporting a more detailed version to Standard corporate and the Better Business Bureau and will take these incompetent and disrespectful people down! I was so disrespected that I felt obligated to write this review. Wow, Happy Labor Day everyone, how disrespectful to everything this holiday stands for. One of the beauties of the United States is freedom of speech! The reason I’m writing this review is so those of you out there don’t get the same treatment and to not waste your hard earned money on a horrible place like Standard Downtown. Things will change in the United States, one by one, and horrible service will not be tolerated anymore! I will never go there again obviously, and I hope none of you EVER will!

A motel 6 with a $250. price tag
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/13/08
Not feeling the love. Snooty desk clerks with nasty attitudes. Not sure how this outfit stays in business, it's just a washed up old motel. The food was very good in the restaurant however and the pool beautiful.

Wouldn't recommend
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/15/07
I you like over-priced drinks and average at best service, then check it out. It's fun to visit occasionally with friends that have never been there, just for the view, but I don't go otherwise. Ate at the restaurant in the lobby of the hotel and my friend got a nice green sandwich, green as in meat with mold on it. Yummy! All for $14. What a bargain. I wouldn't eat there again.
