Taylor's Steak House
Taylor's Steak House has been voted the Best Steak in Los Angeles, which is one reason to go. Another reason is the restaurant is family owned and run keeping the ambiance homey and maintaining a standard of quality. At Taylor's they pride themselves on serving corn-fed beef at affordable prices. The portions are big and always cooked to perfection.
I love Taylor's retro charm. It is exactly the way I was picturing an old American steak house. Dark decor, comfortable booths, impeccable service, delicious food served by people who for some may have been working there for a while. We were a group of 6 or 8 people and our waiter was very attentive to each one of our specific needs.
Perfect for groups and families.
I know people who have been going there for decades!
L.A.'s best martini (and--oh, yes--best steak too)
By A Yahoo Contributor, 9/25/05
It's like you're walking backwards in time to 1952. The ice-cold, dry-as-a-bone martini. The Midwestern-style cottage fries. The sauteed spinach your grandpa would raise his arms joyfully to heaven for. The beautifully marbled filet. And the darkly lit red leather banquettes...This is my favorite restaurant in Los Angeles. But forget the food: start--and finish, why not?--with the ice-cold, dry-as-a-bone martini.
The minute you walk in you feel as if you're going to run into the brat-pack.No not Demi and Emilio, etc. We're talking the real guys,Frank, deano, etc.
The wait staff puts you at ease and if your lucky enough to get one of the long term girls it feels as if Mom is serving you herself. The steaks are cooked to perfection, meat for a true meat lover. And enuogh food to keep even Uncle Joe happy. And you can't beat the price!
No reason to go to The Palm or another one of the expensive fancy steakhouses. This one's actually not been updated since its opening in the 50s, and the menu probably hasn't either, so it's an absolute classic. Great, simple food in big portions, lovely old-school trained waiters that call everybody 'honey' and actually seem to enjoy their jobs - so nice not to have to deal with an actor that can't even act like a waiter! If you're looking for something fancy to impress a date or party on your birthday, this is not the place, but if you want to impress friends & family with your knowledge of a really good, unpretentious restaurant in LA, take them to Taylor's!
