Felt like breakfast today so I tried Grandma Hattie's and chose the counter to eat.. after looking thru the odd breakfast menu I did recognize an old favorite and took the chicken fried steak, and had coffee, I thought I was going to get the service that any other customer would get until my waitress devoted all of her attention to 3 others who came in.. it seemed everyone knew this person(s), thats when I couldn't get my refill on coffee!! I lost count on how many times she walked by without even looking at my cup it was all about taking care of the 3 stooges and no one else.. I remember the guy next to me wanting his muffin she said she get to it in a minute!! I finally had to ask another server for coffee. And, who ever got their gravy in a bowl setting on top of the chicken fried steak?? I thought this was highly unusual to get it served this way.. I would have either 1. had the gravy on the pattie as not to distract to the ugliness of how it was cooked, or 2. in the bowl but on the side not on top of the food!!!! I would have preferred mashed potatoes instead of the steak fries that were overcooked. It seemed to late at this point when it was apparent that I was looking a little disappointed in the service in general and the head server came over twice in a 5 minute period to ask me if I needed coffee...hehehe my cup wasn't quite empty...... oh well I learned from now on I will stick with something like Denny's or IHOP....
I suspect the good reviews are from locals trying to help out. We're tourists passing through. Went to get an omelet one morning and it was literally 3-4 inches long. That's it, the tiniest omelet ever seen, for $6.00. And not at all fluffy, it was totally flat. Eggs were hard.
We love Hattie's !!! Their morning staff is EXCEPTIONAL ! We have always had nothing but personable service, terrific food (often, customized for our needs) and a comfortable environment.
When using the banquet room, we've found the rates and service to also be well worth the visit.
Having now lived in the Carson City for 3yrs. Grandma Hattie's is by far our favorite place for breakfast and & lunch. We hope you love it too.
what happened to grandma hatties? ok...it's been years since we were there. but the service was slow (and the place was empty). the waitress finally remembered to bring my salad...after she brought our dinners. the food was bland...even the carrots lacked flavor. wish it had been the way we remembered it. i'd give it two stars out of 5. sorry, grandma's. you're not the grandma's we remember.
I attended a party at the Govenor's Mansion with hundreds of people. The presentation was amazing but the food was even better. I was so taken by the whole experience i had to find out who was responsible. A very lovely and personable woman by the name of Danielle McGraw. I will definentely have Ms. McGraw cater future events for my company..
this place is so adorable. the wait staff is upbeat and attentive. lots of older clientele, and they are friendly. it's decorated like grandma's kitchen and the food is bountiful and tasty at a Great price. went twice, for breakfast then dinner.
