WOW, we were blown away at Cactus Creek. We had heard from friends that this was a really good steakhouse, but it exceeded my every expectation, even on our second visit in January. The quality of my steak reminded me of the good old days when beef tasted like beef. All of their beef is USDA Prime. I had the Porterhouse steak, what a great steak! Better yet is that unlike the upscale places like Ruth's Chris, Mortons, Charlie Palmers, everything is included, no ala carte for your salad or baked potato or fresh veggies. I spent 42 dollars for a complete Porterhouse steak dinner that would have cost me an easy 80 bucks or more at a Ruth's Chris or similar place. I am a salad kind of person and their house salad of baby greens was incredible, Make sure you ask for Michael, he appeared to be a service captain, but was our server. I have traveled the world and i can tell you that no better server or service can be found. He made my wife feel special and me feel appreciated. This guy loves what he does, his passion for excellence shines through, before i could ask for anything, he knew what i wanted and it was there. I had been in before and he knew i was a fan of Silver Oak, he came to the table, greeted me by name! another WOW. Then he said the magic words, I had been hoping to see you, we have a few bottles of 2000 Silver Oak left and i was saving one just for you. I expected to be shocked at the price, it was 125 bucks. That is unheard of. Did i die and go to restaurant heaven? Geez, this kind of thing just does not happen any longer. When i asked about how they can do that he said, they are fortunate to be located in a casino, their restaurant is meant to be a gracious and affordable place for local people to come and enjoy great food and wine, and that they able to sell wine very reasonably because they hope i might spend a few bucks at the tables or slot machines. Needless to say, the wine price were well below others in Reno or anywhere else for that matter. All in all, it's the best experience in Reno. I want this place to be my secret, but it's too good not to share.
