The 2855 Northtowne Ln Reno Winco is the WORST managed Winco in the entire chain. I love Wincos overall BUT the Northtowne Reno store is terrible. Here are just a few of the problems.
#1 They NEVER have enough checkers This is a very busy store and the NEVER have enough Checkers.
#2 Most of the grocery carts are in bad shape because of bent frames and tires with flat spots caused from the employees sliding the carts accross the asphalt parking lot.
#3 Very SLOW CHECKERS! Winco used to have fast checkers Now most of them are SLOW.
I could go on and on but the moral of the story is STAY AWAY for this Winco,
I used to shop at the Super WalMart on Pyramid Way but, when I moved, I was closer to Win Co. So I'm now shopping there all the time. The prices are great and I've never have a problem with anything I've gotten there. Today I got 2 lobster tails for $4.48 each and 8 pieces of their deli fried and baked chicken, also for $4.48. I quit buying KFC all together now. All I can say is to look closely at what you are buying when it comes to fruits and vegetables.
In November 2010 I stopped by to pick up some produce. I found papayas as big as a football, so rotten that they were broken into bits. I also found rotten green bell peppers. Thinking that the right thing to do is to report this, I told the cashier as I checked out. (I was concerned about what type of bacteria could spoil produce so quickly.) She contacted someone from the produce department and informed them of what I said. To be sure that the problem had been communicated, I called Win Co Foods when I got home and reported the problem, again. In December 2010 I stopped by to purchase some produce. I found another issue with rotten fruit, and once again reported it to the cashier who notified someone from the produce department. This makes 3 people at Win Co Foods I've spoken to about rotten produce. Today January 2011 I stopped in again to purchase some groceries. I grabbed a Family Salad from the refrigerated section for dinner. When I got home and opened the salad - I couldn't believe the stench that wafted off the salad. It was so rotten that the eggs had turned yellow and there was some sort of long haired mold growing in it. Astonishing . . . I have often wondered about the handling of the food in the bulk food bins. Not sure how I feel about that produce, and how it's been handled. Buyer be ware.
I really like Winco, in a time of economic crisis it helps to know there are grocery stores that don't charge an arm and a leg for food. Don't get me wrong, I don't really like what a zoo it is, but that's just other customers, not their fault. Winco pizza is the best too! Really tasty and fairly priced. Thanks Winco, you helped me feed my guests at my sons birthday party for a reasonable price! You can't beat 10 pizzas for under $70.00!!!
In our travels we always hit a WinCo on the way back to SF. Really enjoy the store. The prices are great. Last week we went to Reno to visit my sister. We decided to shop at Reno WinCo since my sister only lives a mile away before hitting home. After picking up our items and all items were rang up...I wrote out my personal check and this was the first time I was stopped on my track. Apparently WinCo does not accept out of state checks. The cashier called the manager. After calling another manager they finally accepted my check. I guess it best to shop at the WinCo in the same state you live if you're going to pay by check.
You can't beat the prices, only problem is that there is too many people at one time. Check out lanes take about 30 minutes to get threw, and they don't take credit cards. Winco is a 24 hour store and if you go in around 11pm or later most of the products are covered by crates and they close off the whole aile for liquor including wines
.lack of cusomers service is an understatement
.I am on bed rest so i call to see if they have whole turkeys and they hund up on me.
.I left my bank card at home and found out they only take cash ATM or food stamps .....so they will take food stamps but no credit cards.
.I think this store needs a lot of improvement management needs to school there employees and themselves as well if they cant handle it corperate needs to step in.
