When we went to Las Vegas, a few people told us Olives was a nice place to go, so my fiancee and I made reservations and when we went we were very disappointed in the service. The host was very snobby and had a sour attitude, the waiter was nice but after we got our food he never checked back to see how things were. After we had finished our food, we were waiting dessert but he never offered us the dessert menu. I feel that the main goal of the restaurant is to get people in and out, they do not care about making life long customers, the menu prices reflect this as well. This will most likely hurt them in the long run, with us spending over 150 dollars on dinner and no one offering us dessert and no one checking on our food... That is not something that I would go back for.
This is my new favorite place in Las Vegas. The food was so unique and well prepared. Beautiful decor and views of the Bellagio Fountain. I loved the Portobello Flatbread and Tortelli of Butternut Squash. Staff was very very friendly. Most delicious cocktails in the Bellagio. To end the evening, the most delicious Strawberry Souffle. Very, Very highly Recommended.
As residents of Las Vegas, we look for places with a little bit more than the rest offer--this one has it. Wonderful dishes presented artistically, looking appetizing and with a bit of professional panache. We have been there mostly for lunch, when the place might be a little noisy for some folks, but have never been disappointed with either food or service. Yes, even in Las Vegas, people eating in a fine restaurant do dress in attire appropriate for surroundings. I would not go to the Bellagio in scruffy shorts and a dirty tee shirt, and feel the same about showing up to eat there. Put on a pair of slacks--it won't kill you!
i've read both the good and bad reviews of olives but my experience was quite positive. the hostess was pleasant when we walked up and asked for a table for 2. although we had no reservations, we were seated promptly. our waiter was attentive and the rest of the wait staff were, too. overall we had a wonderful dining experience. the complimentary appetizer was good enough on its own. it consisted of sheets of cheese crusted crackers, focaccia, and crusty bread and two types of olive tapenades: green and black. they also provided several whole olives drizzled with garlic-infused oil. i ordered the tuna carpaccio with capers and lemon aioli - all over tender greens and warm olive-oil mashed potatoes. david ordered the olives burger with balsamic glazed onion, tillamook cheddar, and parmesan fries. the fries were great served hot and fresh but the next morning they weren't as good, although the burger was still quite tasty even sitting out all night and eaten cold.
I booked a table for the patio weeks before my wife's birthday, hoping for a memorable lunch.
On arrival the aging hag at the front desk was almost as unhelpful as she was indifferent and told us we had to sign in and wait for probably 2 hours or more for the patio.(Why weren't we told this when we booked?)
Once seated(inside)with very little room we found the service was almost non-existant. The food is nothing special and very expensive for what it is.
I'm so glad web sites like this exist to help others NOT to have the same overpriced and unenjoyable experience. Don't waste your time or money at Olives, there are lots of better restaurants.
Listed as casual dress; clients made fun of our casual attire. Seating too close to other, like a cafeteria. Waitress wouldn't let us make our own selections, left us a wine list, collected it, and forgot to ask us our choice. Lamb chops bland and greasy. Better forget this one!!!
With a great view of the bellagio fountains, this smaller restaurant outside the main floor of the bellagio did not disappoint us in any way. Our food in all courses and our wine were fantastic. It is a tad crowded as one of the reviews says, but we were not in anyone's way and we never bumped anyone. I think that was a one time thing.
We didn't make a lunch reservation, but were seated quickly. The table was a tad small for the size of the items ordered, but we made do with help from a great waiter.
We had an app of the beef carpaccio, which was one of the best I'd ever had. It's served over fried polenta with balasamic cipoline onions & very good parmesan. The boston bibb salad was great and was a perfect complement to the protein rich carpaccio.
For our entree, we split one of their badass burgers and two flatbreads. The burger makes the day following a long vegas night a little more bearable. It's not a greasy diner style burger, but it does the trick. It's comes with balsamic glazed onions, much like the carpaccio, and topped with crumbled white cheddar, and the parmesan fries are awesome.
The two flatbreads (think amazingly crispy pizza crust) we had were the portobello (truffles are in season, so fresh truffle oil was served with this one) and the chicken special. Both were fantastic. HIGHLY recommended. Get a reservation if you're going to be there at peak times. We went at 11:30 for lunch with no problem. It's said that the nighttime view from the patio is the best in Vegas.
