A visit to this elegant restaurant takes you back in time to the 1930s, when the martinis were strong and glamor was essential. This plush restaurant is one of the fancier steakhouses in town, complete with marble floors, velvet drapes and soft lighting from a small lamp on each table. A huge wine list is offered and a full bar is seen as you enter the establishment. Superb seafood, steak and chicken dishes are standard menu items. It is located in the Bellagio Hotel .
I took myself out for a fancy late lunch/early dinner. I find this is the best way to sample a lot of smaller menu items rather than just ordering one entree for the same price. Service was excellent and I loved the atmosphere. The waiter recommended the autumn squash soup which was presented beautifully and tasted great. The shrimp salad was good. I actually expected it to be smaller. Usually when you order a salad in an upscale restaurant you get a few leaves and a crouton. For an entree I ordered the Tuna appetizer. Once again it was larger than what I was expecting. For desert I had the Crepe Suzette cake. I am still trying to figure out how they topped it with vanilla ice cream and burnt sugar....think ice cream crème Brule. The meal with wine, sparkeling water and tip came to about $114 which was well worth it for me.
I should have read the reviews befor going to Prime. I rate it as average because it is a good restaurant, but not at the price level. The steaks are excellent. Our service was cold from the hostess to our server. The server was efficient meaning we got what we needed and no more. Barely checked back with us. Appetizers and side dishes were OK, nothing outstanding. I think that sums it up; Prime is OK, not outstanding. For $200+ for two people, it should be outstanding.
Snotty staff, sloppy service. My steak was luke-warm and had to be sent back twice. by the time it finally came back tolerably warm, vegetables for the rest of the table were (of course) stone-cold.
Worst dining experience I've ever had - avoid at all costs.
Service was fine, but the food was barely edible. My entree (sea bass) tasted like nothing I have ever tasted and not in a good way. The flavors were terrible and made no sense. The fish was totally overpowered by whatever seasonings they used and I could barely choke it down. My husbands steak was fatty. Only one of the sauces served with the steak were edible. Never again.
Let's see.... food did not taste good at all. I could only have a few bites. Come on this is inside of Bellagio. Most of the other restaurant I've eaten in Bellagio all have better preparation with their food.
My husband and I were married at Mandalay Bay's The Wedding Chapel on a Friday afternoon. After drinks and a little party with our family and friends it was off to enjoy the strip (in our wedding attire!) We dined at Prime for our first meal as a married couple and it did NOT disappoint. We were seated at a table right by the window with wonderful views of the fountains; our waiter was attentive but not over-bearing; while my steak was a little undercooked, they immediately resolved the situation and I was wonderfully pleased with the outcome. This is a very romantic place and yes, it's expensive, so make it worth it. Go for a special occassion when money doesn't matter. It was our wedding night so we ate and had wine and did care about the bill, and that's what you have to do here, enjoy and only go if you can afford it!
I ate dinner at Prime for the first time last year while in Vegas..it was exception..the service was outstanding..the wine selection was great and they had my favorite Cake Bread Chardonnay..I had a filet that was scrumptous and grilled perfectly and as my side I ordered hummus fries..I had not heard of hummus fries before..they were so delicious..when I got back home I thought of calling Prime and asking them how I could order some to bring home! Overall the best dinner experience I have had in Vegas!
