Terrible's Hotel & Casino
Despite its name, Terrible's Hotel and Casino has become known for quality accommodations at an unbeatable price. Located within walking distance to The Strip, in the University of Nevada las Vegas district, Terrible's has everything necessary for a comfortable stay in Vegas. The casino features slot and video poker machines, table games, a race and sports book, and bingo rounds beginning every two hours. A 24-hour cafe, Bougainvillea's Cafe , and a buffet round out the dining options, and there is a pool on the premises. Terrible's makes for a great trip at a great price. Easy access to hiking trails, camping facilities, picnic areas, sightseeing and snow-skiing (in season) in the surrounding Toiyabe National Forest.
Mondays has a Taste of Italy theme for dinner. Choice range from salads, appetizers, Italian sub sandwiches, soups, entrees like Osso Bucco Gremolata, pizza, carving station, and desserts.
The Osso Bucco was delicious. It was meaty and roasted to perfection. The bone marrow was the best part, creamy and rich with flavor from the bone. Definitely go for second and thirds on this one. Thumbs up!
Chilled on ice, peel and eat shrimp (all that your heart desires) with cocktail sauce for dipping. You ll pay at least twice as much for a seafood buffet on the Strip that includes shrimp. Thumbs up!
The seafood paella (which is more Spanish than Italian) was chocked full of squid and mussels. It s a simple dish but packed full of flavor. The seafood itself flavored the rice with the green onion and bay leaf as support. Definitely worth a second trip! Thumbs up!
Last, but not least, the desserts bar. They had some of their staples of mini éclairs, mini fruit tarts, cakes and pies. But since it was Italian-themed, cannolis were on the menu. The pastry shells were perfectly baked. The cheese filling was sweet, but a bit too thick and heavy. The chocolate chips made it more decadent and delicious. Go for seconds, if you have room. Thumbs up!
I love the hotel - decent rooms, decent price, no hidden charges, free internet. The restaurant is awful - had the worst ribs ever with lousy service. And there's not much else to eat in the neighborhood. If you're saving money by staying at Terribles, presumably the Morton's Steakhouse across the street isn't in your budget. But there's plenty to eat within driving distance, so plan to use the car.
I plan to move to Las Vegas so I drive there frequently to store some items and take a look at properties. I usually book hotels through Priceline, but I received a promotional birthday offer for $19 per night at Terrible's and decided to book three nights. The location at Paradise and Flamingo was excellent with convenient parking and the room was clean and spacious. The wi-fi was free and they don't charge a resort fee. The staff was friendly; the only thing that was missed was cleaning the coffeemaker. There were coffee grounds in the basket and it was obvious it hadn't been cleaned. However, I am not a complainer and had received a generous deal on the room so I just ran the water through a few times and cleaned the basket part. So many hotels have eliminated coffeemakers so guests are forced to go to the businesses on the hotel property for hot drinks. I was delighted to be able to make coffee in my room, and also grateful for the free wi-fi connection. Both the Bougainvillea Cafe and the buffet had good food at reasonable prices. The cafe offers a Deuces Wild breakfast served 24/7 -- two eggs, sausage or bacon, and pancakes for $2.99 with your player's card. I highly recommend this hotel and casino for those on a budget. It will leave you with more money for gaming and other activities.
well i dont know where to begin, as soon as we got there the staff is as rude as hell and the place is just disgustingly filthy as we stand in line at the check out counter for an hour because the manager and his employee's find it more important to stand around and gossip, then we are told that our reservations dont guarantee us a room even though we had been pre-charged for the room, and once in the room it had hair in the bed and hair in the shower and when we wanted to get some ice the ice machine didnt work so we had to go to another floor for ice, our t.v. Didnt work so they sent an engineer to our room at 12:00am to fix it and he couldnt fix it after we ordered a movie we couldnt even see most of it because the screen kept going dark n lite, the next morning we were woke up by a fire alarm rite outside our room and when we called to see if it was an actual alarm they said it was set off by accident or it had a malfunction, when we went to the cafe for breakfast the tables had the paint coming off them all over my wifes shirt, it was by far the worst hotel we had ever stayed in so take my advise dont ever stay at a terribles, tou would be more comfortable in ur car or in the gutter!!!!!!!
my family has been staying here for years and the staff and facility offers many great and affordable amenities...thanks guys for everything, we stayed in early december for my birthday and it was awesome..............
I wanted to like this place, and did until my car was damaged in their parking structure, and they responded indifferently to this incident. Parked in the parking garage 8.19.09, 12 hours later, there’s this whitish liquid on the back and side of my car. It wouldn’t come off. Either vandalism or something dripped from a crack in the ceiling above my car. Security took a report, said I’d be contacted within 72 hours. I wasn’t. Called back, got a lot of, “that’s not my department.” Left NUMEROUS phone messages with various staff. One guy tells me security footage is retained for one year, another guy doubts this. Great, nobody knows their job. Just my kind of place. Two weeks later a manager calls. Says that their investigation found nothing unusual on the tape, and that the casino is not liable. I asked if I could review the tape. He said I’d have to talk to his boss. His boss tells me that my car wasn’t even observed on any of their security cameras during this period. So which is it? First guy tells me it was observed, no damage, second guy tells me it wasn’t even observed. Fishy. I ask if a camera is normally positioned on the area where my car was parked, as it is in a prominent, highly visible area. He replies, direct quote, “that’s none of your business.” I ask a few more times, he grows impatient, and hangs up on me. If you asked this guy if air exists, he’d hang up on you, that’s how helpful he was. So here I am, one manager said my car was seen on tape, and nothing unusual was observed, his boss tells me my car wasn’t even observed, and that the issue is none of my business. Who do I believe? Given the inconsistencies, I can only conclude that they just aren’t honest. Is this their idea of good customer service? So I’m left with damage to my car and a $250 deductible. I’ve sent this EXACT review, verbatim, along with pictures, and a detailed accounting, asking for a response. A reasonable, consistent, professional response. They have not acted in good faith. I just want sort of reasonable clarification. If I get it, I’ll update this review. If not, I’ll think what I think today, which is that the name fits: Terrible’s.
