My husband and I enjoyed another traditional gourmet meal at Pamplemousse Le Restaurant in Las Vegas. Dinner starts with crudités, a wonderful selection of fresh vegetables (a nice alternative to a salad), along with olives and bread. The pistachio crust & rosemary gave my Rack of Lamb just the right touch; I like that it is available for one. My husband started with the classic French Onion Soup Gratinée, and for his entrée chose a special - the osso bucco - pronouncing it better than any he has had from an Italian chef. In lieu of an appetizer, I saved room for a Grand Marnier Soufflé. Even with a very nice bottle of wine, the dinner was a good value. In the past we have also enjoyed Roasted Duckling, Veal Medallions, Shrimp, Filet Mignon - all served with a variety of delicious sauces.
The restaurant sits by itself on the north side of Saraha Avenue, just east of the Strip, so you'll need a rental car or taxi to get there. The French country inn ambiance is complemented by the attentitive, personal service.
A trip to Las Vegas is not complete for us without a dinner in this intimate retreat. While it is a romatic setting, it is also appropriate for business. I was introduced to it 20-some years ago by a colleague; he suggested we get away from the Strip and dine at Pamplemousse. Not only have I been coming back regularly, but I have brought clients, friends and fellow conference attendees.
