Village Seafood Buffet
When in Rio , eat like you are on a tropical island! This restaurant takes buffets to a new level. You will find fried catfish, shrimp, seafood salad and lobster tails galore. The festive hotel theme is carried into the restaurant, complete with party atmosphere and wild colors.
We went to the Carnival Buffet at the Rio on Christmas Day. We waited in line for 2 hours, but it was worth every minute of the wait. The food was amazing! The selection was overwhelming! There was not one item we tried that wasn't good. Everything was fresh and tasted great! It is a little more pricey than some buffets we went to, but 20 times bigger. The value is well worth it. Staying on the Strip? Don't take a taxi... Harrah's has a free shuttle to the Rio that leaves every few minutes and drops you off right at the door by the buffet!
I loved how the people working the line were so happy and entertaining. There was a great variety of food, but there were some important dishes form certain cultures that were not present. But all in all, everything was great.
Anytime you get seafood on a buffet it is a treat. It takes the guess work out of what you are actually ordering because it is in plain view. Most of the time it is hit and miss on how much is actually quality seafood. This seafood was fresh, abundant and offered a huge variety. From things I wouldn't touch in a million years (squid...yikes!), to tons of crab and shrimp which I just couldn't get enough of. Even a very picky eater can find something they like here.
All you could eat seafood. For any seafood lover it seems to good to be true, but it is! Every single entree has to do with seafood - seafood pasta, or seafood enchiladas. Lobster galore. The last time I was there I was a bit disappointed that they stopped serving Oyster Rockafeller. This is my all time favorite and the Rio made it the best. Hopefully they will get it back soon. I am on a strict budget so with the prices around $35 per person it is kind of high, but if you compare it to other seafood restaurants, it's a bargain. They offer crab legs, claws, shrimp in many different varieties, oysters raw and cooked, clams, mussels, and lobster, lobster and more lobster. The lobster's are small in size but not in taste. YUMMY! And after all... it's all you could eat! The only problem I had with it is the price for children. They are the same price as adults. I have a 7 year old son who doesn't even like seafood. When he comes with us he would only eat some spaghetti and it is not worth paying the price for a bowl of pasta. But the good news is that the Rio allows you to bring in other food items for the kids. So we usually stop at McDonalds and bring their food in the restaurant with us. So far we have never had any problems with that. I know most restaurants forbid it.
If you love seafood it is just a great place to go, I am a thin person and I ate so muchhhh, and I enjoy it. You got know that you are going to a buffet no to a very fancy place, and for being a buffet the ambiance was great. The casino is great too, over exceeded my expectations. I ate like 4 plates of crab legs, lots of shrimp, and the lobster tales were ok, could have been better but for the price was very reasonable. were else can you eat all this for that price.
My family and friend have been to the Rio Seafood buffet each time we have been in Vegas. One thing that could be improved is in the salad area. You have spinach leaves and bacon dressing but the dressing is not a hot dressing. This was very disappoint-
ing to me as I love spinach salad with a hot
bacon dressing and I felt something was missing for the price you have to pay.
Also you have had the same types of soups each time we've been there and while clam chowder is okay, another type of soup that is not necessarily a seafood soup would add variety to the buffet.
The first thing you notice is the size of the place with more than 500 seats. However, the lines move
quickly and the food is outstanding, making this well worth the visit. The buffet overlooks the outdoor lagoon, so ...
