We were very much looking forward to going to the Bellagio buffet for their "gourmet" dinner buffet, which is served after 4:00 Friday and Saturday. We were worried about spending $40 a person on a buffet, but took the chance. It was so worth it. They had a huge salad bar, but we skipped that because we wanted to save room for their hot foods. They had cold king crab legs and a few kinds of cold seafood salad that I tried. Their calamari salad was very good.
We got to eat foods that we have never had before, like beef wellington, kobe beef, elk, and lamb. The beef wellington and kobe beef were delicious, but my favorite was the elk. While a bit undercooked for my taste, it was the tastiest piece of meat I've ever put in my mouth. It had some kind of citrus marinade on it, and it was wonderful. The rack of lamb was great.
We were both stuffed when we got done with the hot foods, but could not skip their massive dessert bar. Along with the usual cakes and cheese cake, they had creme brulee and flan, which were both awesome. I also tried a chocolate and coffee custard dessert which was wonderful.
Overall, me and my boyfriend agreed that this was the best meal we have ever had. Not just the best buffet, but the tastiest meal. The only downside was that our stomachs were too small to sample everything they had!! If you ever have a chance to go, be sure to be there before 5:00 or you will have to wait to get in. We left around 5:30 and there was a very long line and the dining room was packed.
