While looking for lunch between Las Vegas and Death Valley, I came across this restaurant. Pahrump appears to be pretty beat but this winery is a pleasant green oasis in the middle of all of the dust.
The restaurant is very pleasant and attractively decorated. The sandwiches we had for lunch were outstanding with excellent bread, fresh veggies and mine had applewood smoked bacon that was to die for. We had a glass of the pinot gris and the chardonnay with lunch and both were excellent - balanced with good fruit.
I will go back here again given the chance. I would even drive the 50 mi or so out of Las Vegas just to go here.
We have been going to this location for a long time. Regulars. A group of about 10+ of us go when we can. The food is fantastic. An absolute delight. One would never expect the kind of quality meal they serve. Affordable too. Today we had a run-in with the owner. Terrible person. Not polite, very rude, argumentative and he raised his voice to one of us. His actions will make us never return. It does not matter how good the food is, if the owner treats you poorly. Pahrump has another winery anyway.
What a wonderful surprise in the desert! My boyfriend and I played hookie from work early one day last week and wanted to do something different then hanging out on the strip. I googled and came across a winery in Pahrump. The drive was wonderful and we connected even deeper during that drive, it was only about 40 minutes from Southern Highlands. It was very easy to find and once we did, boy were we impressed. It's a small winery and quaint and personal. You are allowed 7 different wines to taste FOR FREE! There is a wonderful wine room to sit in easy chairs with a fire place. We sat there and talked for a while after the short tour of the facility. Then there is Symphony, the wonderful airy restaurant with a great food selection (lots made with their wines). We dined there and had a nice fast drive back to the hustle and bustle of Friday night in Las Vegas. But what a great way to get away without stressing yourself out over getting away. No big ridiculous crowds, an affordable road trip and a great way to hold hands and do something different. We Both Loved It!!
THIS IS A SMALL PLACE WITH GREAT APPEAL. THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT AND THE DRIVE WENT QUICK TO GET THERE. THE SERVICE WAS THE BEST AND THE CRAB CAKES HERE WERE THE BEST I EVER HAD, AND I AM FROM FLORIDA AND HAVE HAD A FAIR AMOUNT OF SEA FOOD IN MY LIFE. THE ATMOSPHERE WAS QUIET AND GREAT TO HAVE A NICE CONVERSTION. WE MISSED THE WINE TOUR BUT WILL BE GOING BACK AGAIN WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
When the Winery restaurant first opened they had a grand chef. The food was absolutely fabulous as was the summer outdoor barbeques and concerts. They had a New Year's Eve dinner party one year that was so exceptional with seven courses and excellent gourmet sauces and desserts. But alas, they let the chef go and for a while, food there was only mediocre. It has improved the past year though. The food is not that exceptional quality it was in the beginning but it is far better than most anything else in Pahrump. The ambiance is excellent (although I'd change out those bulky hard to scoot chairs for something lighter). The service is impeccable. And the wines are delicious. They have wine tasting most hours they are open, and they have a unique gift shop that I patronize a lot for Christmas and birthdays. Reservations are a good idea, because you never know when they will be too busy to seat you. The menu is very well priced at lunch with prices around $8-$12 per person for entrees. Dinner is a bit more expensive, but worth it. It's actually the only real gourmet style restaurant in the valley. Dinner runs about $15 -$25 per person for entrees. They even have Beef Wellington, my favorite. The wine selection is excellent and produced right here in the valley.
