If you are staying on fremont street and have certain standards when it comes to cleanliness, decor and food then the golden nugget is perfect for you. The rooms are very affordable and I was very pleased with the upgrade I was offered. The parlor suite was beautiful and the whirlpool tub was divine. Comfortable beds, furnished very classy. My only complaint would be that the coffee pot did not work which is a big no-no when you are hung over and really don't feel like walking around first thing in the morning finding an overpriced coffee. We ended up eating breakfast at the cafe when we ordered coffee and found the prices a bit high but my food was prepared perfectly so I suppose it was fair for such a nice atmosphere. We will be looking forward to staying here again :)
My son, his wife, our 2 daughters, my husband and I just spent 6 days at the Gold Nugget RushTower.
The beds were wonderful. The maids were great and it was a very pleasant visit.
The food was very good in the restaurants.
The pool is a beautiful place to spend an afternoon.
We have one complaint. The box the mattress sat on had very sharp corners. We all came home with bruises on our legs. I notified the girl at the desk and she said they had received many complaints but when they refered the complaints they received they were not acted on. I told her I would write. When I got on the elevator and was telling my daughters her answer, several others on the elevator said they had brusies too. As I feel this is a problem I am putting the complaint in writing. I arrived home Friday night and the brusies are still prominent. This is a problem that needs attention. All they would have to do is round off the ends where the side board meets the bottom board.
Other than this problem I would reccommend the Gold Nugget as a place to have a wonderful vacation.
Treated with disrespect from the Players Club at this Hotel. The only hotel out of many in Las Vegas where me and my signifcant other we're treated like roomates because we've chosen not to get married even though we've been together for almost 10 years. The players club rep refused to link our accounts together. This was actually the 2nd time this has happened to us at the Golden Nugget. We were told this is not the policy of the hotel and received many apologies by the Director of the Players Club, however this has happened twice not sure if we believe her. Many couples choose not to get married and many couples can't, too bad this is something this hotel seems not to understand or they need to really train their employees if an anti-discrimination policy does exist. Until then we won't return.
We spent 5 nights at the Golden Nugget in a nonsmoking room on the 3rd floor attending a convention. From Wed through Sat our room was not cleaned. On Sat aft. we called the housekeeping supervisor and told her about this. We then had the room cleaned for the first time. Housekeeping had been notified each day also! The bed I was using needs to be discarded. It was worn out on the side the lamp was on. Two people would have been very uncomfortable.
No comment cards were available at the time of checkout!
Rating would be a one star or two, mainly because of not being cleaned and smoking in the hallway and the elevators. I know smoking cannot be avoided entirely in Vegas but going to and from rooms could be.
Just got back from the GN after a weeks stay. The goods were - our room (bed was great), their room service was fantastic, and the staff was helpful and professional every time we dealt with them.
The bad - FOOD, we ate at the Grotto (TV dinners were better), buffet (limited choices, lukewarm, and the desserts were TERRIBLE), and their grille (didn't even get halfway through our meal).
After 3 strikes, we did not dare to waste more money at GN and went to other places in Fremont like Binion's grille for lunch which was good food for the money, and to the strip where we had meals that put GN to shame, and spent the same as GN charged.
Sorry GN, but your food will keep us away next visit
Stayed 6 days. The best place we have ever stayed. Beds were comfortable, room was very clean and very roomy. The whole place was spotless. We cannot fault the Golden Nugget in any way. I went to the spa salon and everyone there was so nice and friendly and made me feel so relaxed. All the staff were very friendly and the service was great. We highly recommend Golden Nugget to anyone and its the only place we will ever stay when we go to Las Vegas. The food was excellent and such a variety of different food. Golden Nugget you are the best. My son stayed at the Luxor and when he came to our room he wanted to move from the Luxor which he said was dirty and run down. He regretted staying there so his next trip he is staying at the Golden Nugget. We had a fabulous time here, even stayed an extra night. The Hideaway Bar up stairs outside was the best kept secret be sure to go up there. It only opened in Dec so we didnt find it till the day before we left. Well worth a visit up there and take your swim suit as there is a great pool and loungers. Overall 5 star rating for here. Highly recommend.
