A friend and I tried Minato when we were on a business trip to nearby Kingman. I was astounded. I live in San Francisco -- and have also lived in London, New York, Boston, and Philadelphia -- and this was some of the best sushi I've ever had. We started out with a cucumber salad topped with shredded crab and a nicely understated dressing, then a small bowl of miso soup. The tempura was light and crispy and hot, not greasy at all. Then came the sushi! The temperature was perfect, and on cooked items -- omelet and unagi -- the topping was still warm atop the perfectly seasoned rice. Everything tasted fresh and simple, so that the natural flavors came out. Also, the portions were VERY generous. Each piece of sushi was twice the size you'd get in San Francisco (for the same price). I wish I'd known that ahead of time, because it killed me not to be able to finish what was on my plate -- it was so delicious. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable; everyone who came in seemed to be a regular; two construction workers were wolfing down spicy tuna rolls at the bar and catching up on news and gossip with the chefs. I would absolutely, positively, definitely go back.
