after an evening at tulips duirng mid-august i am reluctant to review this restaurant. there were only a few tables occupied and i would like it to remain that way for next august's return. in a town where the choice of restaurants is overwhelming we consider ourselves exceedingly lucky to have found this location. the following day i spoke with a local restaurateur who simply asked if i had had the new zealand elk - i had and i cannot define the exceptional dish with any comparisons. it was a perfect evening: fine collection of art exhibited, every detail of the dinner was exceptional, and the waitress (a learned lady) provided service i would have a hard time finding in paris, new york, or san francisco. for those who are turn away from the simple appearance of the santa fe house, keep on going for i hope to find tulips just as i enjoyed it last month.
