Description

Located right next to the old railroad depot, this restaurant has been a local favorite for many years. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the patio is a great place to dine when the weather is warm. Both the food and the margaritas served at Tomasita's Santa Fe Restaurant have won acclaim. Locals will tell you that if you're searching for a great red or green chile, stop your search here. The Chile Rellenos, green chiles stuffed with cheese, dipped in batter and deep-fried, are fabulous. The restaurant does not accept reservations, but you can always enjoy a Margarita at the bar while you wait.

I'm from Texas, so I love Tex-Mex and SW food. The Carne Adovado has to be among the BEST dishes in all of Santa Fe. I didn't believe my brother-in-law's raves until I finally had it. WOW. Not TOO spicy and unbelieveable delicious. On top of that, their famous 'frog' (frozen margaritas) are outstanding and strong enough that you need a driver if you have two! The last time I was at this restaurant was 18 months ago. I went back to see if it was as good as I remembered - NO, it was BETTER!

Touristy, but clean and food was decent. On my visit, the chile was hot, but I like it that way.

A favorite of tourists and most locals, good consistent New Mexican food and strong margaritas make this a must stop! No reservations are taken, first come first serve so try the off days! Once seated service is usually very fast. Try the swirlies, half margarita half sangria, yum!

We got into Santa Fe on a random road trip and asked a few locals for some good local places to eat. This was the only place anyone could talk about. And they raved about it. I am not sure I understand why. It was overpriced bland food. I was warned how spicy the chiles were there, but being from San Antonio, I found them disappointing. I would skip this place and try to find some place more local and more indicative of Santa Fe food.

GREAT

This place has the best food! It is worth driving an hour to go eat there and then leaving after. They have great sopapillas and tacos!

No spice to the chile, expensive pricing. I have a menu of theirs from three years back and their combo burrito was $5.75, now its $8.75!!!!! As a local, I am disappointed by their pricing and the lack of friendly servers. It used to be that you could not get a job at this place unless you were the BEST. Want good chile, go to the South Side Diner on Cerrillos or the Flying Tortilla...good value and never a wait in line with friendly service (something Toma's has lost).

Great Food!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/31/08
My husband and I love to eat at this restaurant whenever we are in Santa Fe. Their service is always A+ and the food is always so good. Even if there is a wait to get in, it never takes as long as they say. Their margaritas are the best I have ever had. The price is always right, not very expensive. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.

This is excellent food! Very clean! Its in the down town area, and walking distance to the plaza. The green chilie is nice and hot!!! Use with caution. Its more fun in the fall with the events that accure in the plaza.

It was with some concern that I dined here last week because some of the reviews rated it poorly. I have been going to Tomasita's for more than 20 years, and had always been pleased, but I know that owners and chefs change. I found Tomasita's to be the same wonderful restaurant that I remembered. I grew up in New Mexico, and I have been eating Mexican Food my entire life in all the Southwestern and Western State. I rate Tomasita's as my number three all time favorite; the other two are also in New Mexico, one in Las Cruces, the other in Clovis. The chile is hot, and that may be why some of the reviewers did not enjoy the food. The service was excellent, and the prices are just plain cheap. What a deal, great food, and at a steal.

This is a tourist haunt. The locals go here to pick up on state workers on friday nights or to meet friends from out of town. The prices are too high, and the chile is not hot enough. Their "swirl" margarita/sangria is the only boon... earns them one star.
