Description

Harry's Roadhouse is a New Mexican eatery situated off the beaten path in Santa Fe. The most popular spots in this place are the sunny back patio that is surrounded by flowers, and the chatty bar area. Food is served with a Southwestern twist. Try the Smoked Chicken Nachos, a hefty pile of chips topped with smoke-infused bits of chicken, cheese, guacamole, black beans, chives, jalapenos, sour cream and fresh, chunky salsa. The bar is open noon-10 or 11 p.m.

I've been there twice now. The first time was awesome, but after the treatment I had this evening I definitely won't back! After 20 minutes, I had to go to the bar to get my own water. My margarita sat on the bar that entire time while the ice melted into the drink (we could see it from our table but were unsure if it was ours until we saw our waiter FINALLY grab it and take it to us). My order was wrong and my husband was finished eating before they brought out my correct order. I told the waiter to forget it, but they brought it out anyway. They charged me for it, so I had to put it in a to-go box since we were ready to leave. I've never left a restaurant without eating, especially after driving 35 minutes to get there. They totally ruined our night. I won't be back!!!

We have been there once for dinner, once for breakfast, and once for 'takeout'. Each time the service had suffered. For dinner when we asked for the check the waiter disappeared - turns out he was showing a cute new waitress around the restaurant. I had to practically tackle him to get our check. For breakfast all I ordered was coffee and a muffin - they were out of muffins so I got coffee cake. How it can take over 10 minutes to cut a piece of coffee cake and serve it is beyond me, especially since they were not busy. People had to keep asking the server for coffee and this was 8am - coffee cups should always be filled at this time of day. For my take out order, the waiter took my order, bagged it, and took it to the front register - then he ran in the back to get some other person's order and rang them up while I stood there like a dummy. The food is OK but nothing to write home about and the service is bad (not terrible).

Here are 5 stars from a tourist for Harry's great breakfast. The pancakes are unique and delicious. The cinnamon rolls eclipse all others. Service was good and I cannot imagine a better breakfast. We skipped the free motel breakfast to eat here and are glad we did.

I used to really really like Harry's (at a point I would have claimed it my favorite in Santa Fe), but it seems to have gone down hill. My last three visits were not positive. The service has reached the point of bad and the food has slipped to mediocre. It seems like the staff do not care anymore- they are just riding out a good reputation. I wish Harry would get things back together, but in the meantime I will not be visiting. (note: I am not a tourist, but a disappointed local)

This restaurant has a lovely backyard courtyard...although my fish tacos were sitting around too long, the rest of my girlfriends enjoyed their dinners...and the desserts are homemade (we shared a apricot/blackberry cobbler, the lemon flan and a peanutbutter chocolate ice cream bar)and worth a visit all by themselves. I will give it another chance.

One star? Hmm. Sounds like turistas. We have asked Harry to help keep them away so we get to sit at the table by the fire or by the junipers out back. Among the top margaritas in NM. Friendly service, good food and reasonable prices. Just say you are from around here and ask for Christmas chile.

What a Disaster !!!

Went there for an early dinner and the line was out the door so I thought well this is going to be good. After we got seated in a chair that was starting to fall apart. I asked the waitress for a new chair but she said they did not have any. Sitting in a chair that was just about ready to dump me on the floor was not a great feeling but when I got my food and it was cold and served on a dirty plate I just got up and left. The waitress ran out the door trying to get me to pay for a meal that I could not even eat. She told me Harry would get upset. I told her tell Harry to get his act together and serve hot food on clean plates. I will never go back there again

World famous and deservedly so!

Harry's is one of those unique spots that is both a local favorite and a tourist destination. The staff are friendly and good at their jobs, the atmosphere is funky and fun and the food is out of this world.
