Description

The Plaza Cafe has held its stake in Santa Fe since 1905, and this diner's popularity continues to soar. The fare is varied and satisfying; Greek dishes share menu space with local favorites like tacos and burritos. Beer and wine are available to wash down your meal, but save space for a sopaipilla slathered with honey. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a 50s diner with old photos of the Plaza and surrounding area on the walls.

We dined there Thanksgiving nite along with throngs of others and were most impressed with both the service and especially the cuisine. We had lunch there the following day and the day after. Their Posole, Green Chile stew and Tortilla soups are to die for along with fresh NOT GREASY sopapillas. Five Stars all the way around. we are foodies from San Francisco and damn hard to please. This is a great spot for all 3 meals.

Breakfast is great at the Plaza Cafe. The food was great, service outstanding and prices reasonable. If you are near the Plaza in the morning, don't miss breakfast at the Plaza Cafe.

UK visitor. Tried Quality Inn location. Friendly efficient staff. Great breakfast. Wanted something to eat when in Old Town. Pleased to see Plaza Cafe - again not disappointed

What's not to like? For many years this was my "first meal" stop when returning to New Mexico---eating green chile stew and sopapillas at the counter is exactly the cure to airplanes, driving, and the insults of travel. Yes, the cafe is a bit pricier than it needs to be and yes it is a natural "tourist trap". Yet the staff has always been friendly. Yesterday the family and I had breakfast there. The food was very tasty and sitting at the counter gave us the chance to interact with longtime waitstaff--friendly and pretty attentive, given that the place was jam packed. We had an excellent and memorable meal. So I still heartily recommend the Plaza.

Horrible horrible horrible place with the priciest menu in town; a tourist trap and screw the locals attitude ... a glass of milk costs almost $4.00; where do they get off charging that for a glass of milk? I can go to Albertson's and get a gallon of milk for less than that ... you will fare better by ordering a bowl of cereal with milk on the side; it costs less than a single glass of milk ... don't believe me, check it out yourself. Food is awful. Service is awful; they are just taking advantage of their location. Very shitty attitude.

My six year old daughter got a nice piece of hair in her pasta dish. She was cool with it but our waitress (a pasty faced short lady) could have cared less. In fact, she made some comment about take it out whetto, its only hair. When I reported it to the manager, all he could say was she has been with the restaurant forever. Hmmmm. I am a local and will NEVER go back.

One of the best restaurants attached to a motel that you will ever find. Good all around menu with great breakfasts and lunches. New mexican dishes too.

Had lunch here on July 28, 2007. It was Spanish Market weekend and every place around the Plaza was crowded, but we still got in within 15 minutes. I had chicken in a cashew mole sauce. My wife had fish tacos. Sopapillas came with my chicken. The chicken was delicious. It was dark, rich, unctuous, absolutely AMAZING!I can't say anything about the balance of the menu, and the place isn't much in terms of decoror ambience, but that mole sauce is worth the price of admission anytime! Some good stuff! The beer is good, too.

great service, great food

Fab green chili, with chix or with zucchini, or with meat. Gourmet. The best. And, beer with salted rim and tons of lime. Prices are unbeatable, waiters are hot.

Best breakfast I've ever had !
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/27/07
Our breakfast was wonderful. The eggs, with blue corn tortillas,w/cheese and green chili sauce was to die for. The "Divorced Eggs" was an excellent breakfast dish also. Their bacon is wonderful, thick and meaty. They have great hashbrowns, fresh squeezed OJ and the kids loved the pancakes w/chocolate chips! We have great Mexican breakfast here in Houston, but the breakfast we had at the Plaza took 1st prize in our book.
