High Finance Restaurant - at the Top of the Tram, Albuquerque

The person who wrote that the people there don't care must have been abusive to the staff. I have been there several times and found the service to be quite good, although the food is only above average. The real attraction is the view from atop 10,678 Sandia Mountain and the trip up and down via the longest tramway in the world (13,500 feet). The tramway is discounted for those with reservations at the restaurant.

My husband and I called ahead for a table reservation to celebrate our 26th anniversary. On the appointed day we made a special trip 250 miles to Albuquerque. As we had not eaten there in 25 years, we thought it would be great fun to ride the tram and have a nice romantic dinner. Unfortunately, the first flight on the anticiapted Tuesday was crammed with passengers and we could not budge at all as we went up. When we got to the restaurant, we were turned away because they had a party of 60 or so and did not have room for us. It happened that our reservation had been mishandled and we were asked to wait 2 hours to be seated. Surely not! I was so surprised by the attitude of the maitre d' as he did not seem concerned at all about 2 people as he evidently had a more important party to think about. At least he could have offered to make amends. It was so disappointing! So we decided to go back down the tram which then only had a few passengers making the trip much more fun and enjoyable. By the way, we had a GREAT 5 star dinner at the County Line Restaurant instead which is nearby at the intersection of Tramway down the road from the tram. I do not think we will ever try to eat at the High Finance again.

This is a great place to go to get regualr food done right. The menu is full of things you can pronounce, and the ones that I had tasted really good! Will be back soon!

I didn't like anything about this restaurant except the view. It's a tourist trap. Once you get to the top there's nowhere else to go. I took my wife and two guests to the restaurant and am sorry I did. I ordered a tenderloin and they ordered the sea scallops with pasta. I couldn't even saw the meat with a steak knife. I asked for the steak to be exchanged for the scallop dinner. After 45 minutes, my substitute meal had not arrived. Meanwhile my wife and my guests finished their meals, huge bowls of poorly seasoned pasta with very few (4) scallops. I asked the manager to remove my meal from the bill, but they charged me for the salad. The salads, by the way, were made with ingredients that were not fresh. A real turnoff was that during the meal we had to keep waving off flies. Ugh!

At an altitude of over 10000 feet and accessible by an aerial tram, High Finance definitely provides a unique dining experience. The menu is a bit limited, the portions are fairly small (common at fancy restaurants), and it's expensive, but the experience is worth it! They served the best steak I've ever had, they have an extensive spirits menu, the view is incredible, the service is great, and the setting is absolutely romantic. If you want to impress someone, this is the place for it!

Or a least that is how you feel when you are at High Finance Restaurant. Almost 2 miles up overlooking downtown Albuquerque, the views at night are to die for. Beautiful! And the food is very, very delicious. They serve both lunch and dinner and offer many choices. The staff is friendly and service is usually very quick. But even the times you may have to wait, the views more than make up for it. The exciting part, is having to ride the Tram up to the top of the Sandia Mountains. Many a man has proposed to his sweetheart from this restaurant. When he said he would give her the world, all you had to do was look outside and you could almost believe it was true. Best place in Albuquerque!!

After reading reviews and hearing from locals I was pretty skeptic. However, I believe this is probably a great place in the offseason and off hours. My husband and I had a delectable meal while viewing the sunset and the city. We headed up on a monday in january and had a drink and appetizers at the bar while waiting for the restaurant to open for dinner. Great portions and great food.

I really liked this resturant. It was so neat to be able to eat food at 10,000 feet in the air. The view was excellent! The food and service was great. I really enjoyed my visit.
