Paul's Monterey Inn
When your dinner arrives, you will discover what the local customers have known for almost thirty yearsPaul's Monterey Inn serves the best steak in town. Special care goes into each meal served, and you will always walk away satisfied. When you order, remember that along with all the trimmings, you will be getting one of Paul's huge entrees. The beef is melt-in-your-mouth tender, whether you order a steak or filet. The King Crab Legs are a treat, and the Prime Rib is heavenly.
I have lived here all my life so of course we have been to Paul's many many times. The atmosphere has wonderful charm, and we have never had a bad meal there. The staff and service is wonderful and the bar is a great place to have a drink and actually be able to hear the people you are with. Obviously the ambience must be great they film movies there!
I had the opportunity to take some out of town guests to this steakhouse after reading the most awesome reviews. I am so dissapointed, after living in Las vegas Nv for several years, having been to the Palms at Cesears palace and Ruth Chris steak house i guess i wont be able to achieve those type of expectations here in Albuquerque. If any one knows a good steak would you please post a message or comment Thanks.
Paul's Monterey Inn is simply one of the best restaurants I've been to in the entire Southwest. It's dark and quaint with a seperate bar/lounge area, and is just a great old-fashioned 70s style steak house. Most of the locals of Albuquerque and most of the areas hotels bellmen, cabbies, and concierge believe Paul's to have the best steak and prime rib in town, and the best overall value. The staff are all so warm and friendly, they'll make you feel like you're right at home - you'll almost feel like kicking off your shoes.
What can you say about service so quick they seem to read your mind, Prime Rib so tender it melts in your mouth and people so friendly they make you feel like family. Book early if you want to get seating on Saturday's or you won't get in.
This is my favorite place to eat. I have been going there for over 30 years. We always eat early so it is quite and dark. We spend at least 2 hours dinning so that we enjoy ourselves. The steaks are out of this world. We start our dinner out with the shrimp cocktail. The shrimp are large and firm. Next comes the salad which doesn't have just iceberg lettuce in it. They now mix all sorts of yummy lettuces and assortments to their salad. Dinner is always good no matter what you order. If you are going for lunch they have the best fried chicken I have ever eaten. The sad part is they only serve it at lunch. They serve a wonderful homemade bread. I always take the leftovers and make french toast the next morning. The drinks are made on the stiff side. I figure if I want a drink with dinner and I'm paying for a drink I want it on the stiff side. If you are going try to sit in Mark or Lorene's section. They are just the best!!!
I first started goin to Pauls with my parents over 30 years ago. It has maintained its high quality of beef especially the prime rib since then. There is nothing fancy about the place and it is quite dark. It is a step back to 1970 steak house. The cocktails are spot on. THe shrimp cocktail is HUGE! The waitstaff knows the food well. I am only ever disappointed in the wine list but I am picky there. I suggest you ask for MARK or Lorene as a server..
