In Albuquerque first Fri of Balloon Fiesta. Have eaten at Cervantes off and on for over 20 years. This was the last time. Food good but not exceptional. Drinks good with large selection of tequela for the margaritas. We were a party of five. My wife and I split one entree as we were not too hungry. When the bill came we were charged TWO extra plate charges and an 18% tip was added to the bill. When I asked the manager on duty about TWO extra plate charges was told their charge was low ((most establishments of this level have NONE). That attitude does not deserve my business again, after being a customer for two plus decades!!!!

Love, love, love Cervantes. They have very good food and a mind-blowing green chile with adobada, which I can't seem to get away from ordering. Their drinks are good. Prices are decent. Waitstaff is always fabulous--particularly enjoy the weekend crew's friendliness. Bartender is easy to talk to and engaging. The changing themes inside the restaurant for holidays is also a welcome perk. Altogether, when I think of some place I'd like to eat out at, this place is never far from being my top pick.

The food is over priced and very mediocre. The service is terrible. They charge 18% gratuity on parties of more than 5. They charge for substitutions. They charge if you want separate checks. On the plus side at least they tell you right on the menu all the things in addition to the food that they charge for.

Their red chili sauce is quite spicy so it is not for everyone. We have eaten here on two visits to the area and have enjoyed it both times. The service is quite good, the food very tasty and this time we came with all the Halloween decorations up. The servers say the decorations turn some off, but we enjoyed them.

Cervantes remains the standard by which all other New Mexican restaurants are judged. The best food in Albuquerque. Offerings can get a little spicy, so tourists should order their red or green chili on the side. The appetizer sampler is plenty for 4. The Spanish rice is the best ever and makes you wonder how other restaurants get away with selling dry, vaguely red rice. You cannot go wrong with any of the combination platters. Reasonable prices and good margaritas.

Wow! Talk about a diamond in the rough. When I pulled up to this place with my friend I wanted to speed right back out of the parking lot but the inside is insanely nice. The food was equally surprising. Very good and very authentic. After eating there once I was hooked. I've heard that it gets really busy during dinner and lunch but everytime I've been there for a late lunch it is very comfortable. If you love Mexican food, you should try this place.

Dont be scared....it doesn't look like a place to impress somebody, but its really nice in the inside :) The food is good, but try to go during dinner instead of lunch. It gets a bit hectic and you might get dissapointed by the service. Oh, and if you have arms full of tatoos, be ready to be judged! If it wasnt for that, I would have rated it a 4star.

The Best in the West!!

We've been to just about every Mexican restaurant in New Mexico and Arizona and Cervantes is simply the best of the best! Don't be fooled by the outside of the building, cause if you do, you will miss out on the best Mexican food in North America. Also, they make their own chile sauses which you can buy there. The red is good, but the GREEN chile is outstanding and worth the taste. Get a case while you're at it, we do all the time. For service, ask for Angel or Nancy. They are the greatest in customer service. As for Tex Mex food, and so called Mexican restaurants in Texas, don't waste your time if you're looking for great food!!!!

Great Experience!

Good food, unique atmosphere, nice patio, great bar, great entertainment. I saw a band there called Los Primos. They strolled around and played music with their guitars. It was a great evening!
