The 66 Diner has established itself as a favorite among the locals as well as out of town visitors. Bring your appetite for great home cooking, blue-plate specials and the best milkshakes in town. The diner is located just west of the University of New Mexico on Historic Route 66. This diner is fun and fresh, lively and nostalgic. The decor is friendly and upbeat, definitely maintaining a retro-1950s and 1960s spirit. The jukebox is stocked with music from that era, and takes you down memory lane.
The 66 Diner is great! We go there 1 - 2 times a week and have a great experience everytime. The burgers, grilled chicken sandwich, and the shakes are great! The brownie with ice cream is huge and awesome! The service is very good everytime as well.
Folks this place has the feel and the food to match. Fun retro diner style will make you want to come back for more. Total quality, in the food the staff, clean, family friendly makes this place a must stop in Albuquerque. This person loves the southern-style catfish dinner, a thick malt and a cut of their pie o the day.
Can life get any better?
This place is just yummy! Fun retro 50's decor and super great service. The food!! What can I say? Filling and beyond just good! The prices are super and you get good-size portions, including the desserts! You simply cannot leave this place hungry! They also have a great kids menu and the place is very family friendly. We look forward to going there again and again.
I always like the 66. Even tho I am a Native Norteno, I miss some ol Burger places when I was stuck in the East coast for 12 years. This reminds me of those ol diners. Great burgers with mild but decent green Chile and awesome shakes.
Both the 66 and we are consistent. The 66 is consistently good, and we consistently return. The Meatless Tuesday with turkey is excellent. The Chicken Rancho is splendid. The Albuquerque Turkey is really good. Even the Tuesday Blue Plate, Chicken Pot Pie, is fantastic comfort food. So, why 4 stars? Because it's consistent - never WOW, yet consistently as expected. And, we'll continue to be consistent, as well.
Decent basic food with friendly and hip staff.
My food was perfect and quick while not by any means gourmet. The atmosphere is young and low key. A great stop for the casual budget traveler or someone wanting to check out the neighborhood scene.
