Rudy's Country Store & Bar-B-Q

Description

Just north of San Antonio, at the edge of the Texas Hill Country, sits the small community of Leon Springs. Founded in the 1800s by Max Aue, Leon SpringÂ's cityscape changed when MaxÂ's son, Rudolph, opened a one-stop gas station, garage, and grocery store. Bar-B-Q was added to the operation in 1989, and RudyÂ's "Country Store" and Bar-B-Q has been serving up tasty food ever since. The same original recipes that built RudyÂ's Leon SpringsÂ' reputation are now available throughout the Southwest. Our pits are 100% wood fired with oak, a slower burning wood than the mesquite used by others. Along with time and oak, we cook with a dry spice that ensures each plate of RudyÂ's Bar-B-Q is perfectly ready for you. Apply some of our famous "Sause" and dinner is served. We have two locations in Albuquerque: 2321 Carlisle NE and 10136 Coors NE. (I-40 & Carlisle and Coors & Alameda).

When on vacation back in '04, we stopped in at Rudy's BBQ/Albuquerque, NM and were amazed at how good everything tasted. We ate there 3/4 times while in Albuquerque. Dad always said you could tell a place was good by the the number of cars around. This place was CROWDED at lunch. And you know it has to be good when you see several police officers having lunch there. The one in Norman, Ok is corporate owned and was very good as well. According to and employee at the Norman restaurant, another Rudy's will be constructed soon in the Oklahoma City/Edmond area which is north of Norman. I wish Stillwater, Ok was big enough to have our own Rudy's.

I am from Kansas City, and I know BBQ. We reluctantly ate here just recently, and I have to say that we were surprised. The food is actually quite good. They have all sorts of different meats & sides. The brisket was so tender, and it tasted amazing. We liked it so much, we ate lunch at the location in Amarillo on our way home. It was nice to have real BBQ again.

As a BBQ fanatic, I think Rudy's is one of the best. I've been a faithful patron for over 15 years. Rudy's is the "real deal".

My Dad comes from Arizona to Albuquerque just to buy Rudys sauce....He will not ever use store bought, he'd rather go without! I tried it the other night when he came out to buy some and boy do I know what he means now!! the BBQ sauce is excellent and so is the food!!! Kudos to Rudys!!! Love it!!!!

Like a store but it's a restaurant
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/3/08
Really good Bar-B-Q. Prices are really cheap. Service is fast and very friendly and very helpful with ordering. Very casual atmosphere nice to eat out by the pond. This place is like a store, you order and serve yourself. They have a large variety of food choices.

My wife and I experienced Rusy's in 2004 for on our way to Las Vegas. It was so good, that I went back before they closed and got us each a combination platter to eat on the road the next day.

Rudy's is a must-stop for us when we're traveling through Albuquerque (we live in Phx). Love the food and the ambiance. I order this every time- it's a tradition: Creamed Corn, Green Chile Stew & Peach Cobbler. MMM. Go eat at Rudy's.

love rudys brisket, its the best for brisket, but their green chili stew is just some of the best food i have ever put in my mouth. the problem is i can not get it in texas. if you would put it on your menu in texas it would be a biggg seller for your company. i would buy a gallon a week. please give this idea consideration, thanks
