Very friendly waitstaff, good food nicely prepared and served buffet style. Fresh oysters were an unexpected treat. Many mushroom dishes, fresh vegetable dishes, variety of chicken preparations, shrimp, mussels, varied seafood (butterfish when we visited), as well as the usual beef and pork selections. Selection of desserts included chocolate pudding, tapioca, little tiny cuts of chocolate or orange cake, macaroons, red or yellow jello, banana in cherry sauce, oranges. Everything seemed fresh, simple preparations, flavorful without MSG. Favorites included stuffed mushrooms, seafood delight, roast chicken, pork egg rolls. There was a shortage of sushi, however. ;-( The price was right, and the place was busy with couples and families.
Chinese buffets. What can you say, right? It's all cold, the food all tastes the same. Just a place to fill your gullet and say you're continental. Not in the case of Main Chinese Buffet. Hot food, fresh. FLAVOR! I haven't been to a buffet where that was an option. The buffet has the normal fare, cashew chicken, General Tsao's Chicken, Mongolian Beef, beef/broccoli, etc. The main difference is flavor. Everything was distinct and separate. The vegatables not overly mutilated. Even the omnipresent chocolate pudding was good. I've seen it range from bland to blech. This actually tasted like chocolate!
The waitstaff was courteous and pleasant. Call me whatever you like, but I prefer the staff to be of the same nationality of the type of food you are eating. The music was distinctly asian.
What it lacks in ambiance it more than makes up for in flavor and value.
