If you are in the Old Town area and you are looking for authentic New Mexican cuisine, stop in this brand new, cheerfully decorated restaurant. Owner Ben Michael Barraras, offers his guests mouthwatering New Mexican favorites such as burritos with delicious red or green chilley. The tacos, tostadas and enchiladas are always tasty and satisfying and lunch is prepared in a hurry without compromising quality. A nice selection of beer is available and a cozy yet spacious patio allows visitors a view of the action on Rio Grande Boulevard.
Freaking amazing food. Ben Michael's is a genuine guy and I think the quirkiness may be related to all the numbers he rattles when he talks. Can't hate mathematical genius...He says that he's going to be serving all LOCAL & ORGANIC food within the next couple of months? It was delicious and I've been to the best of the best all over New Mexico. This place definitely has charm and a flare.
Definitely quirky, and don't stop in if you're in a hurry. But the food is fresh and tasty. Also, I thought the margaritas were very watery, so I wouldn't bother with them again. But whatever you do, try the flan (yum!).
Went to this place based on recommendations from other users but was very disappointed. We were a group of five and we sat inside. The cooler was blowing very loudly and in our faces the whole time. Had to ask the girl to wipe the table off as it was still dirty. Some of the silverware was also dirty. Our server was very poor. Never asked if we needed refills on our drinks probably because she was drinking margaritas at her table. The room is too small to have a piano, a trumpet player, a bongo player, and sax player and have a conversation. Overall very disappointed and will not go back or recommend it to anyone else. Oh, and the food was so so. Nothing spectacular as far as Mexican food goes. Have had better.
Ben's place was an incredible find, the Margarita's were probably the best I ever had. It was my birthday and Ben couldn't have made it any more special. The food was great and Ben played the piano, Marguritaville of course. Even our cat, Cleo, enjoyed hanging in the mellow karma. The 8,000 handmade adobe bricks show how much Ben put into this place, Enjoy the patio outback and know that you have found a home away from home
We enjoyed the casual atmosphere and personalized service by Ben Michael himself in the restaurant he built. The food was fresh and tasty made to order by Ben Michael, with vegetables grown in his garden.
Ben Michael welcomed us warmly and shared stories of his family and his business. The food was very good in quality and quantity, service was personalized and Ben Michael made us feel at home. I'll go back next time I'm in Albuquerque.
