Frontier Restaurant

Description

For the last 20 years Frontier has slowly acquired the better part of the block facing Central Avenue across from the UNM campus. You will see study groups, people having coffee and lunch or the famous Frontier Cinnamon Roll, which is a huge, fresh sweet roll swimming in butter. The atmosphere is western and simple, with booths and tables. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at no particular time. New Mexican dishes, sandwiches, soups, stew and salads, chicken, ribs, fresh squeezed juice, sodas, tea and cappuccino are also offered. Frontier has special timings for holidays.

its pretty good place, super crowded always! lots of people, but there are lots of registers so the wait isnt crazy long- thats the bonus; the breakfast burrito with carne adovada is my pick $5.49 plus $1.50?extra for the meat?; the coffee is just ok -average, i see the historic attraction to this place but really personally the crowds keep me from being a regular; BUT their cinnamon rolls are to die for! serious YUM...so get a cinnie, a regular breakfast burrito to go, grab a coffee from winners down the street and sit someplace quiet & yur good to go! ;^) and oh yu'll spend less than 10bux [[NICE]] speaking of nice the staff is consistently nice warm and welcoming. the tables are bussed fast and ready for the ever approaching swarm of regulars & tourists!

Good place if you're hung over and don't have much money. I get the breakfast burrito and fresh oj which keeps me full all day. Tons of interesting people. Especially the ones who talk to Elvis.

They have the best Green Chili stew, though the lines can be long hey go by very fast and the food is serviced quickly.

Good food but wrong location

Great food but you have to deal with the homeless coming in from time to time. The Mexican food is good and the Cinnamon rolls are to die for!

Throwback to a 50's diner - super fast service, excellent prices and hours - they open at 5am and close at 1:30am every night! Perfect for night-owls, but very young college crowd at night. Best bet is breakfast in the morning - delicious food - especially burritos - but known for their cinnamon rolls. Only downside is that their coffee is terrible, although complimentary! Highly recommend if you're in Albuquerque (Central Ave.).

We had a bad experience at Frontier. The server taking our order continuely kept badgering us with "next order please" when we were trying to see what to order and there was nobody behind us in line. Food was average to poor, even the staple of a place like this, a burger, was not very good. It's the kind of place to go after a night in the bars mabye but I'd avoid if you are taking a family to eat. Only plus was the prices were cheap, but that doesn't mean much when you've had poor service and poor food.

This place deserves to be the institution that it is. All walks come here at all hours for consistently solid takes on the local regional cuisine that sits at the intersection of Mexican and American. The green chile stew, breakfast burritos, hamburgers, tortillas, and sweet rolls are all among the better to be found in the city. The line is nearly always long, but it goes fast.
