The Gurley Street Grill
Located on Gurley Street, and just a block from Prescott's famed Whiskey Row,today's Gurley St. Grill rose from the ashes of the Mulvenon Saloon, a wood fram structure originally located on the site that was destroyed in the Great Fire of 1900. Much of the brick used to rebuild the present day structure was salvaged from the rubble, and one can still see the soot-blackened bricks scattered throughout the building. Locally owned by the Peterson-Burge family, todays Gurley St. Grill serve the finest quality food and beverages in a friendly, relaxed and informal atmosphere. The upstairs rooms now serve as private dining rooms to accommodate both large and small parties, banquets and meetings. Uncompromising quality, service and a sophisticated menu has made the Gurley Street Grill a don't miss destination in Northern Arizona.
we have been by here many times. we stopped for lunch. greeted immediately and seated. our waitress was Jesse, ordered drinks, while choosing lunch she brought out fresh baked bread sticks.
we both ordered Ruebens, they were the best we have had in a long time. meat was sliced, not piled on the bread. bread was swirl, dark bread with a great dressing. sweet potatoe fries topped off a great lunch. other tables had great looking appetizers and wrap sandwiches.
Jesse was at tentative but not at the table every minute. we have been out several other locations in town where the waitress would rather not serve you, or the answered is no to every question. we were able to hang around after linch , no rush and enjoyed out afternoon out.
I was there today for lunch - service was excellent - atmosphere great - I went there to try the Roast Beef Sandwich on Weck - It was great - I'm from WNY and have been missing Roast Beef on Weck. I will stop here any time I'm in Prescott. Highly recommend.
No need to ever go here again. They are known for their sonoran corn chowder which they told us about when they seated us. The service was slow. The wait staff was pleasant but would disappear for long periods of time. After 35 minutes I asked if we could order. Again we were told how good the sonoran corn chowder was. We ordered and 4 of the 6 in our party ordered the sonoran corn chowder. More than an hour later they brought our food and informed us that they were out of the sonoran corn chowder and we could choose another side. Now it took them more than an hour to figure out the sonoran corn chowder was not available? Totally unacceptable!!
Don't waste your time at Gurley Street Grill. There are too many other great restaurants in Prescott that understand the concept of customer service!
It's sad that the economic downturn shows up very soon in previously favored restaurants. I have enjoyed this restaurant in the past, but now it's one for me to avoid. The food last night was very so-so and the inexperienced service was awful.
Back to IHOP!
Very bad service and mixed drinks double priced. I cannot imagine why anyone would recommend this restaurant. I have lived in Prescott all my life and I know where to eat. This is not one of them. We were a party of six. We ordered appetizers and our main course. They both came at exactly the same time. When we tried to explain to the server that one course would get cold, she got huffy. Our mixed drinks were priced exactly DOUBLE what they cost anywhere else in town. Go to Burger King before the Gurley Street Grill.
Our party of 8 arrived at about 5:20 on 12/23/09 and was seated immediately. The service was SO slow that 2 of the people in our party was unable to wait for their food. They left about 7. We got our food a short time afterwards and the time that I paid as noted on my receipt was 7:42! The food was good, but not outstanding. Our service was horrible and felt that we were totally ignored. We had to ask for coffee refills (which only happened twice) and the last time we asked, we were served cold, not warm, coffee.
It appeared that the other customers were being attended to promptly except us. Our server, Chuck, totally ignored us.
***Our bill had an AUTOMATIC 18% gratuity added, which is why we were ignored***
Surprise to find such restaurant, where not only the food was good, but the service, was outstanding.
The portion were generous, the quality of the food was to be noted, and the cooking of it was done to perfection.
Our wait person Melinda, was pleasant and considerate, and busy in attending the bar as well as servicing tables.
Kudo to the Management for hiring good personnel and certainly having an excellent training program.
Good luck to all of you
We like it. Nice atmosphere. My husband always gets the chicken pie, which he loves. I love the sweet potato fries and both the soups are great. I also like the black bean burger here. Read about the bricks on the back of the menu.
