Sonic-Decent food, horrible everything else!
Sonic as far as I know is a southern chain, where you drive your car in and eat your food in your car. It has since moved to Arizona, and having seen the funny commericals, I was kind of stoked to at least try a smoothie.
The myriad of options left me a little in awe but after 10 minutes my family was ready to order. Once we pressed our button to take our order, it only took about 5-7 minutes to get our food. I will give marks for effort!
I ordered a jalapeno cheeseburger. I actually never have had jalapeno's on a burger before and I think they were a great idea! However, the burger I had with them was flat and a bit lifeless. Kind of like sticking jalapeno's on one of those 99 cent burgers you get over at mcdonalds. Value was BAD here.
I had a Tropical Smoothie and I have to say, that was the best thing here. Chunks of real fruit mixed in with some very flavorful smoothie, really hit the spot.
I can't speak of the corn dogs but they were said to be average.
What really kills Sonic is the ambiance and the service. I MIGHT be willing to come back for smoothies and deserts, maybe a hot dog, IF the moron's in my town would turn off their lights in their cars?
Kudos to Your overpriced, under fuel efficeint crap mobile and it's brights shining right in my face, nearly blinding me and making me spill smoothie.
Also I asked twice, in a very calm manor to please have some ketchup for my families corn dogs, and was never served. I proceeded to get my own ketchup.
And my family munched on lukewarm dogs! Blasphemy!
At Wendy's I would obviously get my own ketchup but at a drive in I would expect the waitress to have the ketchup in her pouch with her mustard, at least to have it handy and run it to my car, obviously this slipped their minds.
Personally I suggest you only eat desserts, and only in the afternoon when it is unlikely for people to leave their lights on. Going to SONIC at night would be a most dodgy proposition.
