Pancho Mc Gillicuddy's Mexican

Description

Located in Williams' oldest building, this Mexican cantina calls itself the town's funnest restaurant, and you may very well agree. Sonoran-style Mexican and Southwestern cuisine are served in the former "Cabinet Saloon," renowned for its gunfights and shady ladies. Many of the building's original architectural features remain, including the ceiling trim and hand-painted wainscoting. The building is directly across from the train depot in the downtown historic district. The usual suspects including burritos, enchiladas, tacos, chicken, beef and pork combination plates, go well with the frosty Margaritas and other house specialty drinks. Both smoking and non-smoking dining rooms are available.

Below average Sonoran Mexican--the refried beans are the freeze-dried type, not homemade---and how hard is it to make real refried beans?

Very good home made salsa & chips while you wait for your meal with just a hint of cilantro. We dine there when in the city and always get the same thing; small chimmy chunga. They have two sizes, the large is more than one person can eat, but could be shared by two people. Our problem is I order shredded beef and my wife orders ground beef. The price is very good, the atmosphere has been updated recently, and our consistent experience has always been very, very good. Love this place. The only thing you need when you finish dining is a DQ cone for the road.

Panchos is Awesome! Food & Entertainment is Tops. Nightly live Music on the Patio features Dustin Horsehair. He will rock Y'all. His performances are not to be missed. So If you Like Great Margaritas and Country licks this is the place.

My wife and I chose Pancho's for the odd name buth thats the only thing odd. The food was great, the service fantastic; and the overall experience something wonderful to remember. We highly encourage you to discover this gem for yourself. Our best evening in our 2 week 1500 mile trip via RV. September 13,2008

Favorite restaurant in Williams
By ,
I love this restaurant and always bring out of town guests here. When you walk in, you are walking into an actual saloon from the 1890s and just how cool is that? I used to always bypass the saloon though and eat in the restaurant, because smoking was allowed in the saloon/bar. However smoking is not allowed anywhere in the building now. There is also patio dining in the summer, usually with live music. They have great margaritas in several flavors and the best Navajo Tacos in town. Their shrimp fajitas are wonderful also. I've always had great service, except for one night when they were super busy and our waitress took a long time to bring our bill, and she did apologize. But other than that one little delay, we've always had excellent service and excellent food at Pancho McGillicuddys. Many hotels in town have percentage off coupons for Panchos, so be sure to ask.

Its a great place to just go out and relax.
By ,
I lived in Williams for several years and this was mine and my husbands place to just go out sit and relax and not feel like we were being pushed out the door. It amazes me how intolorent tourists can be. We have been treated with great respect and have been taken care of very well. And yes....The margaritas are wonderful. The live entertainment (music is a plus). Williams is a pretty hospitable town, many people go out of their way to make the tourist welcome, as it is the Gateway to the Grand Canyon.

Who asks for tartar sauce in a mexican restaurant?
By ,
Ignore previous 1-star poster. Who asks for tartar sauce in a mexican restaurant? Only fish in the restaurant were fish tacos. Perhaps they were fishsticks in there. Ordering fish in a greasy spoon smalltown mexican restaurant is like ordering crepes at McDonalds and then being angry that they're previously prepared fastfood. I was there on a busy sunday evening. Place was packed and fairly noisy. Service was still very quick. Food was simple typical tex-mex. Ordered chicken enchiladas. Plate was nuclear hot from being in the oven, but served on a cold wooden trivet. That's a lot more than many mexican restaurants will do. Wife asked for lemon for her water as the waitress was running to service the next table and the request wasn't lost on her. Spanish rice was well made, refried beans weren't too greasy. Enchiladas sauce was OK, plenty of meat. Served with lettuce, tomatoe, olives. Wife had the rellanos. Complained of there being too much cheese (is on a diet), but thought the chilles were tasty and that's quite a complement considering she's from a small town in New Mexico.

We enjoyed the variety of American & Mexican food. The atmosphere was very relaxing and family oriented. The service was quick and very friendly. The food was excellent and the best value in town.
