The food was not spicy at all. After eating the meal I headed over to Basha's. I had to get some pepmo, and some rolaids.
My husband and I both love indian food but, the food there tasted like poor man's food over in India. The service was great but the food was gross will not be going there again. Avoid this place.
We visited Prescott from California. Tried the Taj Mahal. Best Indian meal ever - and we like Indian food. Service was fast. Prices reasonable for the quality. Full bar. The Raita was superb as was the Onion Kulcha. Nice free appetizers also. Try it!
Taj Mahal, however expensive, is a wonderful place to eat. From the moment you step in, you can tell that the restaurant is authentic, both from the East Indian decor and the lovely smell of curry and other spices. The waiters and waitresses were very helpful and kind; even helping to choose and describe the many exotic dishes on the menu. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant.
Before moving to Prescott area I found Taj Mahal restaurant and tried it out for dinner one Saturday evening. It is located in a nondescript strip center off of HWY 69. The restaurant itself is very large and looks typical for these establishments. Lots of decorative accessories to tell you it is, indeed, an Indian restaurant. I ordered the lamb biryani with some naan and an Indian beer. Everything was absolutely delicious! When my waiter scooted into the bench opposite me, I realized that he was both a server AND the owner. He and I chatted for some time. I could tell his interest was in serving his customers, being friendly and offering food that was spiced exactly as ordered. Although the prices are a little high for a typical Indian restaurant, it was offset by the quality of the food. I am looking forward to going back for one of the weekend buffets; I have been told it is excellent.
Prescott Az is not really known for good food by any means. But hey? We have the world oldest rodeo, what can one really expect? This place is good, REALLY good. If you like Indian (Asian, not Native American) food, Taj Mahal is a MUST. The service and food are excellent.
