Our Pink Jeep guide recommended Cowboy Grill, but this night it was full and we were redirected to the Silver Saddle (same menu & price). No rattlesnake, but I did have my first buffalo tenderloin. While an interesting experience, I don’t know that I am ready to switch from beef. My wife goes to a cowboy-theme restaurant and orders - the pasta dish. She liked it very much.
We went here for lunch one day and got the appetizer plate that had snake, buffalo, cactus and other yummy things. You must try this platter to start. The Cactus Fries and Cactus Salsa are so good. This was the first time I had snake and it was pretty good. I had the pot pie for lunch and it was runny and the veggies were cut so small it was like having nothing in there but soup. But my family really liked their hamburgers
Not sure why some had a bad experience here - this is one of our favorite restaurants in Sedona. Every time we get the buffalo flank steak. Its been perfect every time and the value is great (I think its around $22). Waitors have always been friendly and accomodating. During the busy seasons, there will most likely be a wait. Its just how it is. Word to the wise about Sedona - nothing is extremely cheap if you want great views and fun atmosphere. My husband is a chef and we love it here. Go in with an open mind and some time to kill. If you want quick and cheap, there's a KFC and McDonalds down the road.
We were in Sedona visiting from California. We had 3 adults, 2 teenagers and a child. We liked the idea of a pager, so you can shop while you are waiting for your table. When we got in, we were sat in the back by the kitchen. The service was HORRIBLE. Very slow, and I got to watch my food sit under the heater (because I could see the kitchen) and the waiter just walked by it many times. Very slow service. The food was nothing great. Not worth the prices at all. Then, to top it all off, the WAITER GAVE HIMSELF A 20% tip!!!! I would have tipped him, but certainly not 20%. They obviously know that they will be tipped regardless of service. I will never go back there and would NEVER recommend this terrible place.
I also told the manager about his terrible service, and she didn't even offer to take off the 20% tip. We were robbed.
A few weeks before going to Sedona in September, 2007, I happened to see the Cowboy Club featured on the Food Channel, and it received rave reviews. After personally trying the Cowboy Club, I must concur with the food critic's review. We had delicious meals, ribs and steak, and the cactus fries were great. Desserts were magnificent. Service was excellent. I felt the prices were more than justified.
this past october we stayed in sedona on our way to the grand canyon to do the mule ride. This was our second trip to sedona. My wife and i brought here brother and his wife and prior to the trip we kept telling them that it was a must place to visit and eat at the cowboy club. We ate at the club twice and tried a variety of foods off of the menu. The food was excellent and the prickly pear marguerites were delicious. Pleasant atmosphere and friendly service. We would recommed this place to everyone. We hope to visit this area again and of course, stop and eat at the cowboy club.
The Pepper Dog Bloody Mary is the best I've ever had! Buffalo Brochette was also great. Fun atmosphere. My husband and I were in Sedona to celebrate my 50th bday. AZ is too hot for me but I'd go back just for the Pepper Dog!
