Truly a lovely experience for the senses from start to finish!
Papa’s Uptown is such a wonderful addition to the Prescott Courthouse Square Area!
As I walk up to the door, I could already smell the wonderful aromas come wafting my way. The front of the restaurant is inviting with cheerful italian music playing. We were greeted promptly and with big warm smiles by Andrea and some of the other waitstaff.
The place was pretty packed and filled with people laughing and enjoying themselves.
The sign says Casual Italian Dining, But I found the decor and ambiance to be much swankier and eclectic. Shortly after being seated, Mama came swinging by with complimentary soup and a nice bread basket. She greeted us with warm conversation which made me us feel truly welcome.
The Waitstaff were very gracious, warm and efficient even in the midst of being slammed by the dinner rush. We ordered some nice red wine and the spicy mussels as an appetizer. SO FLAVORFUL AND FRESH! We also ordered the Mediterranean salad which was also excellent. As I looked at the menu I was surprised at the price point being so reasonable. I would easily pay more for the quality of food and service I was receiving.
We were already beginning to get full so we decided to share an order of the the shrimp scampi. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the shrimp were juicy, large and sweet. Very tasty and buttery. Definitely a winning dish! We didn’t leave room for desert but we did have a superb cup of coffee to top off our meal.
I would definitely rank Papa’s as the #1 in Northern Arizona, Possibly the state!
Its not just a excellent meal, but a full on experience !
my girlfriend and i went to Prescott for vacay from the new york city area,i though that there would be no place for real good food, and i was wrong, papas made me fell like i was back in nyc in little Italy enjoying a great meal...this is the place to go and we even went 3 times while in area....
My husban recently dined in your Prescott, AZ location. We are relatively new permanent residents of Prescott (one year) and love good Italian food. We enjoyed our dining experience and will be returning, hopefully with o-o-t guests.
Question: the Sartori DeVerana 2007 Vigneti Di Montegradella Valpolicella we ordered was outstanding. I am trying to find a source from which I can purchase it for our home cellar. Can you help with this?
I have been to Papa’s half a dozen times in the last 6 months.
Every time I have been there, it has been a wonderful experience.
The place is warm and inviting with many personal touches. I have tried a number of dishes, all of which were good. I especially like the shrimp scampi, the Mediterranean salad and for desert Mama’s Tiramisu! The portions are generous, they have a great wine selection and the service is excellent. The staff is very gracious, accommodating and quick to get you anything you might want. They do this with and easy flow and always with a smile on their faces. With Mama and Andrea steering the ship, the place is filled with laughter and sparkly energy which always makes me look forward to dining there. They really make you feel like you are part of their family. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
We had a table of 6, 5 ordered Pizza and loved it!!! A unique way to make it, very tasty. I wanted and ordered the Chicken Piccata, I asked for angel hair pasta and got spagetti - huge amount; it overwhelmed the bowl it was served in; with a few pieces of chicken. The piccata sauce was not on it; piccata was given to me in a bowl. The Piccata was oily, no lemon. I quietly told the waitress the Piccata was missing lemon juice. She told someone who appeared to be the owner, who seemed irate that I did not like the piccata sauce. She yelled at me that it was her mothers recipe? I was stunned along with the rest of our group who loved their pizza. My husband and I enjoy Italian food cooked by a first generation Italian who spends 4 months a year in Italy. I'm well aware of what good Italian food tastes like. My favorite is Chicken Piccata. The actions of this owner stunned me. I can only think she had a bad day or week. We have eaten there several times prior to this with no issues? I could not eat this nasty meal and yet they did not want to take it off the bill. Pizza's great
My husband and I ate at Papa's Restaurant in Prescott to celebrate our 40th anniversary. We enjoyed the vegetarian lasagne, minestrone soup and special cake often served at Italian weddings. What a pleasant and fun place to enjoy great food!
This restuarant is the best Italian food I have ever ate. Andrea is a great host and what a personal touch with her customers! The chicken manacotti is to die for and the pizzas are great with homemade toppings and plenty of them, even got a to go pizza. We are from Lake Havasu City and make it a point to visit not just one night but two nights in a row-the food is that spectacular. The service is great with both indoor and outdoor dining. Reservations were made and our table was ready and waiting with a reserved card on the table for two. Just that little personal touch I mentioned. Mother even gave a little complimentary bowl of her homemade soup and we ate it while she wrapped the silverware for the next business day. I would recommend this restuarant to anyone and the prices are very reasonable. We will visit ever chance we have-what a nice get away within walking distance from our hotel-very convienient when sipping on the wine! Thanks again Andrea and staff!- Mike and Cindy. See you soon.
We had dinner tonight, 2/13/2010, at Papas. We are long time residents of Prescott, and have not eaten here for awhile. What a surprise ! Our reservation was for 6 pm .. when we arrived, they were packed, but our table for 4 was ready. All of the food was delicious - manicotti, shrimp ravioli, chicken marsala, pizza ... there was a table of 10 next to us, putting in their orders, and we felt that we would have quite a wait for our dinners to come out of kitchen. Got our salads, also delicious, and only waited about 15 min. for our dinners. Each entree was excellent - the sauces were superb, and very fresh tasting (not canned). The service was prompt, not overbearing. We would definitely recommend this spot to anyone desiring a very good meal. We did not have dessert, but the ones that came by our table looked wonderful. Thanks, Papas .. we will be back soon !
