Terrible service, mediocre food, they will overcharge any changes, even the ones on the menu, they will not respond to any complain.
This place reminds me Miami Beach Restaurants, they bank in the fact that because you are a tourist (it is way too overprice for the locals, just ask anyone) most likely you will not come back, so they do not care for food quality, service or complains (delay for wine service and food preparation was more that 15 min. each, in a quiet friday late lunch (2 PM or so). Server forgot the order twice, loosing our appetizers ( reasonable mistake, if you are nor charging $20 a dish). Then at the end with a new server (first one just disappear) , we get overcharge $5 because we change a dish (we are vegetarians) even when the change option was available and priced in the menu. To top it when we complaint about it , the chef just send the message to leave it like this, without even showing his face (they were only 2 tables being service at that time).
Please do not support this practices in Sedona or anywhere. Most restaurants in Sedona have good views and most likely wont abuse you.
We got there right before the doors opened at 11:30 am for lunch and there was already a line. We got seated right away and the placed filled up quick. We got seated in the Chowder Room right next to a window so we got a beautiful view of Western Sedona. The food came fast and the drinks were strong. The food was really good. I got this scallop wrap that was very refreshing and delicious. You have to try this place it is very good
We enjoyed an excellent lunch here. The menu is inventive and everything we tried was fresh and delicious. Even the scone served with the salad was fabulous. The only complaint was that is was hard to decide! We will be eating here again before we leave Sedona.
A Sedona resident recommended this restaurant for dinner and they were right. Fabulous! Go early for sunset dining and sit outside with fabulous views of surrounding red rocks, sitting well above the city. Service was excellent, except for the scantily clad, arrogant hostess. The menu was wonderful. Order the crab cakes and stuffed mushrooms for appetizers. You won't be disappointed. The Seared Ahi Tuna was the best we've had, and this is a favorite dish of ours. We were too stuffed for dessert but it looked great. Go hungry and you won't leave that way. Nice wine, beer and full bar list.
My husband and I drive up from Phx several times a year, just to have lunch or dinner and then sometimes drive home or stay over. We have been visiting this resturant for several years and have always been happy. What a great place, food, service and view it just wonderful.
We have been going to Shugrue's for years because of the excellent service, good food and great wine list. I knew something was amiss when the hostesses looked slovenly and the wine on display was the low-end grocery store fare. When our waiter arrived and spoke to us like we were ordering at a fast food joint it was another indication that something had changed. Upon examining the wine list we decided to leave. Even though the items on the menu had remained the same, I had a fear that the chef had probably changed as well. The view is still there and still spectacular.
This was our last night before flying back to England and steak was the required dish. The lovely lady, Jan, at the tourist info office had recommended Shugrues and we booked a table on her recommendation. We were not disappointed, we had the 10oz fillet steak and it was superb. Service was good and the whole meal was a true experience. Not the cheapest in town but well recommended as excellent all round value.

Upon arrival, the ignorant manager exemplified poor skills at running a restaurant and his laziness cost us the only good point of the visit, the view. The hostess portrayed unequivocal rudness in the restaurant business while displaying her displeasure to the customers. The server coundn't recommemnd a dish and couldn't wait to get home to eat some more cheetos.
The worse display of service I have experienced.
