Beaver Street Brewery and Whistle Stop Cafe
Wash down your burger, sandwich or wood-fired pizza with a handcrafted beer from the award-winning selection. You can even watch the chefs prepare your meal and the brewmeisters brewing the ales and porters. During the summer, dine on the Beer Garden patio. The Whistle Stop Cafe now offers full banquet facilities. This is an Arizona Republic newspaper choice for both Best Restaurant and Best Bar in Flagstaff. The food here is quite ambitious for pub fare. The dinner menu changes nightly. There is a newly added billiards room. Opens daily, at 11:30a.
Good food, always. Very consistent food and service. I love the Bramble Berry and Stout. We always take guests that are visiting Flagstaff to Beaver Street. Always a favorite!!! The chocolate bread pudding just might be one of the best things ever!
A local recommended this restaurant and it was a good choice for your basic brew pub fair. The beer was good, but they had some problems with the taps and the list of beers offered that night was short. The place was crowded, obviously a popular spot. The menu had some interesting choices and the burger we had was good...and huge. The location was a little tricky to find, not far from old town, near the tracks. Flagstaff has a strange vibe, but this place was OK.
I was in Flagstaff for four days with my family and ate at the Beaver Street twice. The first time I wasn't overly impressed. We were a party of 11 with 3 young children and our poor waitress was a little out of sorts but very sweet. I wasn't thrilled with any of the food offerings and it was busy and loud and SO SLOW. By the time we actually all got our food we were all exhausted and really not even in the mood to eat.
The second time we went however there were only 8 of us and no children. We got both of the fondues to share as appetizers and I fell in love with the place. The swiss fondue is out of this world especially with fruit. I personally liked the green grapes. The cheddar fondue was good but greasy and kind of clumpy. I just can't say enough about the swiss though. Next time I will get the swiss fondue and just the swiss fondue.
I'm not a drinker so unfortunately I can't review the brewery but those at our party who enjoy beer said it was very good.
All in all, not really a family restaurant (not surprised), unimpressive slightly overpriced food (but not outlandish), and as long as you have a couple hours to burn not a bad stop (just get the fondue!!). Also, the apple stout cake is good just make sure to tell them to warm it.
